Ok, since hijacking-a-thread-and-walking-away is bad style, I'll at least explain to the non-otaku...
The characters that I'm recreating lately (and my nickname) are from
Slayers, a fantasy slapstick series that was once very fittingly described as "
what happens when a D&D campaign runs far too long".
If you're into roleplaying and do not totally despise anime, you should give it a try, as it perfectly parodies anything that you know about textbook fantasy.
The world is approximately your average "high fantasy" universe, but the difference to any other series out there is that the protagonists in there are the equivalents of lvl20-characters.
At the very least. With the lead female role being closer to a level40+ one.
And boy do you see it. Rarely does an episode pass without a part of a city being burned to ashes. And that already means that the "beautiful girl genius sorceress" Lina Inverse has had one of her
better days.
Of course that's what she calls herself... others rather call her "bandit killer", "dragonspook" or "enemy of all that lives". And while the latter might be a bit of an exaggeration, it
is true that she sees herself as some kind of high-fantasy Robin-Hood. With the minor difference that she takes from the wicked and gives to
herself, of course...
There is plenty of material about Slayers out there, from a novel series to TV seasons to OVAs.
Just in case I made someone curious, I'd recommend taking a look at
Slayers - The Motion Picture (rather known as "Slayers Perfect" in the web), as it has a
nice plot, doesn't require you to have
any prior knowledge and still gives a nice outlook on what "
Slayers" is all about.
You most probably won't have any trouble getting the VHS/DVD from your
local amazon branch - or (probably just as easy) from your respective personal favourite among the many infamous peer-two-peer networks out there.
