Final Battle (spoiler)
Final Battle (spoiler)
I am new to this type of game and new to the idea of a forum. I have been playing Icewind Dale 2 and I have reached the final battle but I cannot win it. Does anyone have any idea how to kill the two big baddies, please. I don't seem to be able to even injure them. Help, please
I have a little advice for you, so you can do what you want with it
First off, it would help to know what your party is???
Second you need only kill one of the twins.
When the battle starts you need to send someone over to the right side of the screen and take out the guy summoning monsters. With out all the back up things will be a lot easier for you.
Did you destroy the globe of essence?? If not the Glebrezu's will be imposible to kill.
Return the attidote to Ormis and the monk they will fight with you.
Did you purify the pools???This will prevent the twins from healing.

Hope this helps, feel free to post replies.

Screamming!!!!!!!!!!!!
As soon as the fight starts, run your whole party to the bottom of the room. I'd suggest Mass Hasting your party before you evter the last fight. This allows you to get away from the Blasphemy Spell that gets cast at the start of the fight.
Next you need to summon a few firends and take out the Summoner mentioned above. If you rescued the Monks earlier, they will arrive and start dishing out some pain to the enemy. Use the Horn of Valhala to summon berserkers if you have it, Animate Dead, Shades, any summoning spells you can. The idea here is to take the focus off you. Once you hvae your party out of harms way and the enemies are fighting your summons, it's time to gear up. Have any Wizards or Sorcerors cast Mordenkainens Sword and start swinging at Whoever is nearest. Your other characters should act as archers if possible and stay out of the fighting as much as possible until the tide has turned in your favour. Make sure you keep your Summoning count topped up.
Once things are pretty well in hand, you can start directing your attacks at one of the twins, DO NOT ENGAGE THEM IN MELEE. One of them attacks wth Black Blade of Disaster which will end you very fast. Combat from a distance is your friend.
Once one of them is pretty beaten up they will teleport away and try and heal at the Radiant Pool only to find that it doesn't work. When this happens, you've nearly got it won. Keep the pressure on with the summons and focus your attacks on the weakest of the two twins. You should soon have it won. Using Mass Heal is a very good idea if you can as it also heals your summoned creatures.
As this is a long fight, have any Druids cast all the Static Charges they have memorised. You should get a few free recasts from them. Also don't forget that Wildshaping heals the Druid, so use it if they are slipping down in life.

Welcome on board, Fiona
If you start a thread detailing a specific battle or quest please add "spoiler" to the title (like I changed this one), this way those who don't want to know the particulars in advance will know not to read it. Thank you.
Regarding your question: it would really help if we knew the composition of your party! Can you give us the details?

Thank you for your replies
, and for the information about how to post.
I am not sure what you mean when you ask about the party but I have:
1 character who is a barbarian level 8 and a druid level 8;
1 who is a paladin of helm level 4 and transmuter level 11;
1 who is a rogue level 10 and a fighter level 6
1 who is a bard level 6 and a wizard level 10
a morninglord of lathander (cleric) level 16
a sorcerer level 16.
Is that any use ?
I am going to try your suggestions now but I don't think I've got some of the things recommended - I'll do what I can with what I have.

Thank you.
I put what I think you mean by my party on the general bit of the thread.
I did destroy the globe and the monks do come but they seem a bit feeble as they all get killed before we do.
I have tried summoning but new monsters appear even after I got the guy on the right as you suggested. Still can't crack it but it is better.

Your Sorceror and Morning Lord of Lathander are going to be the keys to winning this fight. Perparation will also be a key. Cast any protection or Buffing spells you can before the fight. Have your Cleric memorise as many Animate Dead spells as they can. These guys will be you main fighting force.
Group invisibilty spells like invis. sphere and mass invis. will give you a chance to get your party into position and out of harms way one the fight starts.
First priority is to get your guys out of firing range of the twins. Take out the summoner at the bottom of the room and Demon Knight Serak who is near him as soon as you can. Once you've done this you will hopefully have a little breathing room. while your melee characters are attacking the wizard and Serak, move your cleric and Arcane casters off to one side and out of the way. They should then start summoning undead as as quickly as possible one after another. Be very careful about summoning Demons, if you do so and your protection from evil is dispelled it can mean a reload.
It took me alot of tries to beat this battle and when I did so, two of my team were dead including my cleric so I couldn't raise dead the other one. Bottom line - the longer the fight goes on, the better your chance of winning, your odds just keep getting better as time goes by.
Good luck! Let us know when you do beat it and tell us what worked for you.

I say focus on your mage before you enter the area. As Heidrek said, preparation is very important here!
Have him cast several disabling spells and area spells like Stinking Cloud (after casting dispel magic or magic resistance lowering spells) and Chaos and everything that removes the magic defense of the enemies and affects multiple enemies at a time.
I'm sure your cleric has some pretty good high-level spells in store, use them all to prepare yourself and disable the enemies!

Hi
I have been trying to do this since I last wrote (this game is not doing my social life any good). Things have improved and for the last few attempts I have got rid of everybody else and my party are all alive. However I don't seem to have anything which injures the baddies and when I focus on one the other goes invisible and infects my party or poisons them ( this seems to depend which twin I leave alone). I don't have a sword of Mordaikanen - can this battle be won without it? If not where can I get one? Thanks for your help so far.

You don't need the Mord. Sword spell (level 7 sorc/wizard spell), although it does help. Elemental damage from Fire and Electricity hurts the twins I believe, perhaps Acid too. So stock up on Chain Lightning, fireballs, Flame arrow's and so on. If you've killed everyone else, you will beat the twins in time.
Hands down the best way to fight them once you've eliminated the others is with summoned creatures, Undead, Elementals etc. They are pretty hard to beat in melee as you have found. The way I managed to kill them was to tie them up with my summoned creatures and bomb them from a distance with spells. You can also freely use the Horid Wilting spell if your Sorc. knows it. Undead are unaffected and it does excellent damage.

Final Battle:spoiler
Thanks again. You talk as if I can get anything I want. Is there a way of modifying what you've got after you arrive. or do you have to start again? I was thinking that maybe I arrived without all I need and I'd have go back to the beginning. I'm not sure I could bear that. I do have elementals but I was leery about using them given they are described as unreliable allies. What I really need is some way of turning my friends back into friends after the twins have turned them. Can that be done?

Final Battle : spoiler
Brynn,
Yes but I thought they could only cure once it had happened and I don't have enough. I also can't make the twins visible and sometimes that is a problem. I take it back about getting rid of everyone else,BTW: that was the day before yesterday and I can't even manage that now. I'm not sure why. I changed some spells so I could summon more things but it isn't working so well. Or perhaps I'm just bored. I think I'll give up for a while.
As this is the first game I've played and it is number two of a series do you think it would help to play the first one? Or should I try something else ? If so what do you recommend ? I like the puzzle solving elements best, I think

It was the same with me, too, I played IWD II first But got stuck at Oria's Game Room (I decided no to go on without finishing it) - so I put it aside for a while and now I'm playing IWD I. I miss some things I got used to in IWD II )(like Alt to highlight items and) but I still enjoy it very much. I decided to go throuhg IWD I and then start IWD II again with the same party (only three are there - ranger/cleric, mage/thief and a fighter).
I say it's a good idea to start to play the first part, I find it very interesting to follow the story from the very beginning and it inspires me to complete IWD II, too, no matter how hard it will be with three people![Smile :)](./images/smilies/)

That would be quite easy...
(well i found it to be easier than playing with 6 chars..)
Only thing that i dont like in IWD1 is rules..
Perhaps i should try it too... even that i have finsihed it long time ago..

wait a minute wich game? IWD1 or 2
that easier was for IWD2
But in IWD1 faster levelling.. so it shouldn't radically change the game..
