advice wanted

Post by flimo »

i just finished the game
i was kinda disapointed that i didnt get to save the game after final battle
in order to export my toons with max amount of xp and items
guess ill have to do final battle once more and export my toons as soon as i have lootet
now my question is this i want to xport my toons and import em into a HOF game
is there anything i need to do?
like empty bags of holding scrollcases etc?
or will all my gear and cash be there once i get the toons importet?

oh and is a full party of 6 toons lvl 20 a good start for HOf or is it to low or to high?
will the mobs in the start of the game even be worth xp at 20?(if not i dont really think ill bother with hof mode)

on the note of a lvl 20 party i really dont like the way xp works in this game
i quickly found out that if i leveled up as soon as i got xp for the next lvl the mobs i was fighting would start to give little or no xp at all
wich made me stop lvling up untill i really REALLY needed the lvl's
so after the first few lvl's i didnt lvl up untill i needed lvl's at the battle squares(wich brought me to lvl 11)and the next time i lvl'd up after that was just before the final battle(final battle not that hard at lvl 20 playing the game at hard btw)
i would definatly prefer an xp system in future games where it pays to lvl up as soon as u get xp to next lvl
but besides that i enjoyed the game :)

When you have finished the game, your characters are automatically exported. Look in the exported character list and check if their levels are correct.

Open config and put HoF mode on.

Then start new game and click import. Then find your IWD something chars and use those..

Exporting is MEANT to get rid of containers especially. You're not meant to keep everything.

I found that even though I lost all the stuff in containers, just the various weapon setups I had and some of the lose equipment in my inventory allowed me to buy pretty much anything I needed. Actually some of the best items in the game are in Chapter 1, Saga of the Wanderring Sky, Golden Heart of ...., Kegspitter and Goblinslayer all excellent. Kegsplitter is invaluable, kills constructs immediately, so Iron Golems get iced in 1 hit when they would normally take out your whole party.

Blessed Flank of the Virgin is a pretty good Shield too.

Try selling off some of the items that really arent much good, weapons with high enchantments or items that give spell abilities usually get a good price. Goblin Slayer isn't much good after you clear the goblin fortress so you can sell that back again before heading off to the ice temple. Also don't forget to use Eagles Splendor or other charisma boosters on the character who initiates the sale, this can save you thousands.
