Cleric/Druid and Druid/Monk for soloing

Post by Zerthar »

I'm planning on soloing IWDII. Though I don't know if I can do it with any on these class combos. I searched the forum, but never found something about clericxx/druidxx (l would level them with equal level).
Monk1/Druidxx seems good, but is it enough to solo?
If I solo with a multiclass, what max level could i get in normal mode?
help appreciated :)

I planed a 10Fighter/20Sorcerrer and so far he is dooing great as a 2Fighter/18Sorcerrer in the Underdark passage, im planing to max sorcerrer at 20 and then take the last levels in fighter. Im pretty sure a 10monk/20Druid would work nice using shape shifting and magic to deal with damage immune things, i have doubts about a cleric/druid its generaly good to have a melle capabile class in a multiclass build for solo since it will be the result in many cases, barbarian/druid might be interesting.

My six character party got to about 18th level by the end of normal node. Not sure how the XP's work out in solo but I'd think you would end up somewhere in the 20th level range. Just a question, why Cleric/Druid? I can understand Monk/druid to make the most of your Wisdom score but why the two divine casters? I have a Fighter/Druid in my HoF party who is pretty good, particularly as he can Heal himself when he's getting low on HP. I gave him weapons Spec. in Great Sword, equiped the +5 Brilliant Energy Greatsword that ignores armour and shield bonuses and threw on power attack 5 because he'd almost always hit with that sword. He is not a pleasant fellow. At range he can Flame Strike or Finger of Death/Static Charge/Searing Orb/Thorn Spray you then follow up with missile weapons. Once you get into melee range though, out comes the two handed lightsabre swatting you 4 times a round.

Has anyone noticed that you can only get 5 attacks per round if you Dual Wield or have a weapon that gives you extra attacks (or Rapid Shot feat for missiles)? With a two handed weapon, or sword/shield you can only get 4 attacks/round regardless of BaB unless you are hasted.

Yes, go for the cleric / druid.

Possible to solo although it'll be quite challenging to stick to even levelling throughout. I think I had level 5 or 6 spells in each class by the end of normal mode. I went for a Human Bane Cleric / Druid. Maxed out wisdow at the start, dropped intelligence and charisma to 6 and put the rest in Con, Dex and Str (can't remember the split). As soon as you get animate dead things get much easier. Didn't bother with shapechanging except to run away (using the wolf). Didn't bother with elemental feats - I grabbed enchantment and transmutation spell focus feats then picked the rest according to how things felt.

To be honest though, I straight cleric or druid is easier to solo with than a multiclass. But not as challenging.

Monk/Druid combo rocks. I have one in my party of three and he's assumed the role of my main tank. Here is my initial build:

Marros Droverson
Male Human Lawfully Neutral
Monk of the Old Order 1/Fighter 2/Druid X
STR 18 DEX 14 CON 16 INT 6 WIS 18 CHA 4
Weapons: Great Sword (Slashing), Mace (Bludgeoning), Crossbow (Missle(Piercing))

Weilding a two-handed great sword w/ no armor, he rocks. All of his stats increases will be in Wisdom to increase AC and to get additional spells. Are all great swords two-handed? I'm just now heading out to the ice temple (chapter 2) and the only great swords I have seen are at the armor in Targos.

I made a monk1/druidxx now. All stats increase goes to wis. Stats like con, dex and str I left low, because I always use shapeshift. I took panther and shambling mound as feats and I'm very pleased. He rocks! :) With the shambling mound i already have an AC of 26 for example, so its really good against those ork archers.

Pity most of the Elemental shapes suck so much, 1 attack per round? crud.

Air Elemntal is really good, but need about 20 somethign levels for it! Aside from that Dire Panther, Dire Bear and Shambling Mound are the only shapes I'd use.

Fire Elemental should be the man but he's crap!
