Help test Co8 3.0.4 BETA

Post by nomad_wanderer »

We've thrown together a BETA patch that has quite a few fixes. Most done by the resident Assembly Guru moebius2778.

Being a BETA patch however, It's not gone through rigorous QA... We're looking for people who are interested in taking a look at it..

Please be sure to read the note about uninstallation -- I'm looking to get a better installer.. This one can only copy the files to be modified to a backup directory prior to modification.. This means that after you uninstall this mod, you'll need to copy the files back out of the backup directory.

I'm having a blast.. As far as I know there are NO problems with the included level cap remover, I.e. I have a level 12 wiz/Level 4 Druid making cool items for my Fighter4/Monk10... Spells are scaling properly, as well as game things (resurrection, etc.) I only wish there were the higher level feats/spells, so you could single class...

There's quite a few fixes/enhancements in the 3.0.4 build, spells/skills/feats/dialog, Give it a go. If you just want to play with the higher level stuff, (aka. Test things [Smile]) there's cheat codes for that too!

Is the level cap required for patch 3.04? I admit that I'm actually cool with characters up to 10th level, since my characters don't COMPLETELY overpower the enemies prevalent through much of this game, especially toward the end.

BTW, maybe we should start a sticky thread of bugs/glitches and see if they are confirmed and are covered or need to be addressed?

The level cap is more of a freebie. It doesn't hurt those that don't make it to ten before finishing, but it helps those that want to finish every quest, and fight ALOT, before finishing.

Plus, it opens up the idea of parties with fewer characters, I.e. with no level cap, you can (Theoretically) finish the game with only 2 or three characters.

Please don't use this thread(or forum) to post issues with the patch. Please use the co8 forums, or the atari forums buglist. The co8 team checks those forums more regularly. (I'm able to _wander_ around and post at many different boards, but I'd rather try to centralize reports about the patch/game) Additionally, We have an ATARI mod on the board over at ATARI who just started a DX9c/XPSP2 thread, trying to collect data on the can't loot, open doors problem.

Thanks again for giving it a try, I think you'll find the game is a little more enjoyable.

We've found our first defect with the 3.0.4... It seems there is a bad item reference in the starting Equipment files for fighters. Creating a party that uses fighters will either crash your game, or they will start encombered carrying some "WHITE T" object.

We should have an updated 3.0.4 package, and this file available seperately up on the 3.0.4 site.

I've rebuilt the patch with this new file in it.

Feel free to use the single file, or re-download the patch Using the url above, and install it again.

Download the single file from here:
http://www.co8.org/forum/showthread.php ... 6#post6056

open it up, and copy it into the following location:
<INSTALL_LOCATION>\data\rules
Overwriting the file there.

.

having no idea of modding or programming, just a suggestion:

wouldn't it be fun to have some kind of extremly challenging 2nd run like IWD2 HOF ?

...means you play the game once with normal difficulty and then get the chance for a 2nd run with:

- UBER-monsters (multiple HP and improved BAB, AC, SR, saves & stats)

- new items

- level 6 to 10 spells

- level 20 cap

...any volunteers ?
