BG1Tutu problem

Post by Edar Macilrille »

On advice from Stramoski (thanks) I post this seperately.
I have a problem installing Tutu, when I try to run it I get the following message:
WeiDU v 128 Log

D:\BG II\Black Isle\Baldurs Gate\bg1tutu.exe
BG1Tutu (Beta v4)

*** Reading Global Configuration ***
[bg1tutu/configuration] parsed (14 rules)
Parsing baldur.ini in BG1 directory...
ERROR: error loading [D:\BG I\Black Isle\Baldur's Gate/baldur.ini]

ERROR: Unix.Unix_error(20, "stat", "D:\\BG I\\Black Isle\\Baldur's Gate/baldur.ini")
parsing rules 0.000
main 0.130
TOTAL 0.130

Can somebody make sende of it? I cannot, and I have been able to install all other mods except two that claimed that I do not have ToB installed (which I have).
My computer is an old Pentium II with 300 or 350 MhZ and it runs on Windows 2K (I seem to recall).

Thanks in advance.

PS. did I mention that this particular viking knows about as much as his forefathers of computers?

Some advice

Did you made a full install of both BG 1 (w/wo TOTSC) and BG 2 (w/wo TOB) and applied the latest official patches on both ? And by full install I mean selecting in the install screen every module available (nevermind the "not enough space" in BG1 installer, just select all of them in the Custom Install section). Also after applying the official patches apply the Baldurdash patches (from http://www.baldurdash.org). And the games need to be installed on the same partition. (let's say D:\BG1 and D:\BG2).

Step two, you need to modify the config file in the BGtutu directory. Can't remember exactly which one but search in the Tutu directory and you will find it. Modify it whith any available text editor (wordpad will do the job) so that the source points to your BG 1 directory and destination to your BG 2 directory. Also if you want BG 1 music rename the directory Music in BG 2 to Music_BG2 or something else than copy the respective directory from BG 1. Now run tutusetup.exe and it should work. Then get Tutufixpack and I also recommand tututweak.

Also you should make this operations on a clean install. Donno what other mods you've installed but some of them might have heavily modified the BG.ini file so Tutu is unable to make any sense of it.

I did as above and now I'm nearing the final part of Durlag's tower while playing with BG 2 engine :)

PS: If some of the mods you have installed were "ease of use" and something in that are you don't need them anymore. Both tutu and tututweak have options for ease of use and many more. Also, another advice: if you don't get them to work DON'T change Minsk's default class ! :D

Well had exactly the same problem today, installing BG I + ToSC and BG II + ToB on a computer.

What i did -> full install BG I, Full install Tosc, run latest bioware patch(english patch from http://www.bioware.com)

Than full install BG II,full install ToB run latest bioware patch (english patch from bioware.com)

After that i installed Banterpack v(x) and Flirt Pack

Than i changed config file.

Than i ran TuTu, gave me an error on scrl51.itm (which is Greater Malison)

Complete re-install, than it gave me an error on baldur.ini (couldnt find bgII ini file anywhere =\)

Complete re-install -> said i didnt patch them, so i tried both int and en versions, still didnt work =|

HELP ME :'(

Says you are from Holland, I am from Aarhus, Denmark, we could meet in Hamburg and weep silently together...

I do not have ToSC, it says on the download page that you do not need it fot Tutu to work.
However, I did have all patches installed. But what thenena is saying is uninstall and try again before installing mods? B*gger it if you will pardon my saying so, that is a pain >install- install all mods-uninstall again!!!- install anew, Gaaahhhh I just want to play. But then I probably should not be tweaking the game with unauthorised mods should I?

I will try, though it did not seem to work for our Dutch friend...

Come to think of it

I know what I forgot, I forgot to kneel in front of my PC and recite "Hail Bill Gates" five times a day, silly me.

Ensaro, I don't think your "item" problem comes from the Banter mod as I have installed it also. It works fine for me. I have US versions for both games and their expansions. I know it's pretty frustrating but try making an absolute clean install. Also if you want to use mods check so they are WEIDU compatible. Also "Dark Coast" mod is not compatible with Tutu. Also check because some of the modes are specifically made to be installed after Tutu. So, remove everyting you have installed and try to follow the steps I've outlined:

1. Full install BG 1 ( with TOSC if you have it) and BG 2 (with TOB if you have it) an latest official patches. Install on the same partition and select manually all install modules for BG 1. Also I strongly recommend installing the Baldurdash patches ( at least the text patches).
2. Install WEIDU mods (except "dark coast" and maybe others - check the tutu page about that)
3. Configure the Tutu config file (read the Tutu docs about that)
4. Run tutu. Run Tutufix. Run tututweack.
5. Enjoy BG1 with BG2 engine :)

I have WinXP an all the above work fine. If I get the time I'll try to scout a bit the Tutu and other sites so I would provide all the links you need in a later post.

Baldurdash patches apparently does not work without ToSC, despite what it says on the download page. When I try to install them I get the message "No working version of ToSC was found, aborting." They should wotk witout it, but they do not. (mutter, curse).

Baldurdash problems...

Sorry if I can't be of too much help about that. I'm at work right now and for some unknown reason I cannot access the baldurdash page from here. I only know that not all the fixes there work with tutu so I only installed the text fix, without the items and spells fixes. I'll check home this evening and tomorrow I'll write the exact list of files that I've used.

I'll be back with the list of packages installed tomorrow. Oh, and I forgot to mention I tryed the whole installation process three times before getting it to work. :)

Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!!

I have bought ToSC and done a clean install of it, BG 1, SoA and ToB, ALL. I then tried to follow both your instructions and the ones provided on Pocketplane (which are different). I still get an error message...

WeiDU v 128 Log

D:\BG II\bg1tutu.exe

ERROR: Unix.Unix_error(20, "stat", "D:BG I/baldur.ini")

I am getting somewhat frustrated to say the least. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

Really sorry

I'm finally back in town (after a week long trip to one of our customers who moved his network) and I've got to say you are really unlucky. The only thing I can propose is to reinstall Windows (XP or 9x) and then restart the whole install process with BG and Tutu. I've finished BG 1 and TOSC with an Inquisitor lvl 9 and now I'm in Trademeet. Found some bugs/conflicts between Solafein and Improved Items mods too :) . Anyway, don't loose hope. If I get the time I'll provide the list and the links where to get the packages.

Got it to work it seems (have just run it and discovered that I need to install the mods first. Pocketplane themself has a forum for Tutu problems. That was helpfull. I will just try to see whether it works then install the mods I want and reinstall Tutu. Right now I have hope. And I think my beserk state went wrong, I spent the entire day yesterday in bed vomiting and with headaches, and I have not even had a beer since friday where I had one, have not been drunk for ages and I still get what felt like a very bad hangover:-(

Well, I did say it, didn't I ?

Glad it finally worked for you. And I did mention in my second post that you need to install the weidu mods before Tutu (except for Tutu tweak) :

Run tututweack."

Good luck on your adventure and maybe keep me informed on your progress. :)

Thank you. I f you check the Pocketplane forum you will know that I am stuck with the game Crashing as I try to leave the Crossroads. I have thus given up and have moved to SoA again with a lot of mods, strangely enough ending up in Candlekeep doing chores...

But thanks anyway, when I solve the crash problem I will be back. I have bought a new computer since so it may work now that I no longer run it on an antiquity...

Best wishes; Palle
