Your favorite monster

Post by fable »

I have to say that DD has some interesting ones. Thus far, I think I'm most pleased with the Orcan wardrummers. When they play that tune, everything Orcan within hearing is healed, including themselves. If you attack 'em, they play more ferociously. If you stand still, they switch to melee weapons, and they're pretty decent at 'em. The only way to really beat 'em is to hit 'em with enough punch to kill on one or two shots, or use the Freeze spell, first. :)

Envenom weapon works really well on the drummers, too :)

Hmm. So far my favorite monsters would either be the vampires or the assassins. They both have keen fashion sense :)

I'll add one in the opposite direction: my LEAST favorite critter has to be the Insane Skeletons. Buggers are such high level that they're hard to hit, have hundreds of hit points, attack in large groups, and are immune to poison damage. I suspect a good tactic to use against them would be to use the spell Hellspikes on a large group clustered around you, repeatedly.

Steel scorpions are very nice, too. They seem to hit all the time, do small damage but are fast and possess quite a lot of hitpoints. Best of all, they distract monsters from you. Now, if only you didn't need a skill to get 'em to follow you.

Grail Guardians

These are tough, but i found if you use polymorph and lightning you can kill them pretty easily, you just need a lot of mana potions.
