Drow armor and chap. 7

Post by Nhoj »

Just got to chap. 7 and all my Drow armor turned to dust. Any trick to keep this from happening? If not, where do I find info on cheat codes and how to use them?

Nix the cheat code idea. I had a hard enough time allowing myself to keep the Drow armor. It's just that all of my party uses magic, and I hate fighting naked. I mean what's the use of having weapons if you can't use them (you're not wearing armor, you wack an enemy, he wacks you back, you're dead!!)

Okay. Is there any armor that these characters can wear (and still use magic?):

There is a post on this first age which mentions something like giving your drow euipment to a character, booting them and sending them to the copper coronet -voila! Drow equipment in sunlight.

Your clerics/rangers can cast spells with any armour. Mages?/bards can use the bladesinger mail whilst casting spells(again, check the items section here).

You might be able to put it in the Bag of Holding and then pull it out of the bag after you have left Elthan and his lot Image

Excuse me, can a mage actually use the bladesinger??? thought it was only meant for bards?

The answer to that question is right but be sure to drop the character with the drow equipment before going on the sunny surface and get him/her back at the C.C. or anywhere else he is residing - in the "exit from Underdark" section drow equipment will go into dust.

And, nope, the bag of holding thing ain't working Image

No go on the bladesinger. It says my spells have been disabled.

I've already got out of the underdark with my armor. When you get into chap.7 (into the elf city), everything turns to dust. And my last save (with my Drow stuph) is before the gaveyard part 2. Arrgh!!!

Yep, my mistake, just for bards. Thought a thief/mage might be able to use it.

Guess they can't 'sing'.

How 'bout me other characters? Aerie and Iomen? And are you sure a skald can use bladesinger and still cast spells?

Definitely skald with the bladesinger.

Aerie can wear any armour and still cast cleric spells (watch ou, she ain't strong enough for plate armour). But not mage spells.

Imoen can wear thief armour but that will disable her spells. I think it is just the drow chain that lets mages cast, but as you can see, it disintegrates.

PS How's that Skald working out. They seem like good characters?

There are also a few mage robes which reduce armour class.

If I can keep my AC up, he's pretty good. Decent fighter, has plenty of spells, and those harps he found really makes a difference. I've had him since BGI (just a bard then, of course).

Jhareth:
One of the warring families in Trademeet (the guy) has a suit of Elven Chain on. I have equipped Aerie with it and she can cast MU and Cleric spells. Now I need to find another suit for Imoen. Her AC sucks at the moment (2).

The bag of holding does not protect drow equipment. I had nothing but dust in there too.

I´m still loking for the "silvian Mail".
if you side whit the vampires you get to kill aran and he has a Elven Chain mail +1.
the only reason for siding whit the vamps.

Hex92, you should get the robe of Vecna for Imoen. Much better for a spellcaster.

Ahhh... yes the drow equipment. Well I personal think the drow items are some of the best in the game. But on to the subject at hand well the answer is yes you can keep the drow equipment in sunlight. I know this because I have done this before. You can keep drow equipment by giving you character drow items through the Shadow Keeper. See man guy is dual wielding two drow swords Image

I have to say that The Robe of Vecna is much better for any spell caster...I mean lightning fast spell casting beats a few points of better AC any day...

Hex92,
Thanx for the tip on elven chain in Trademeet.

I also lucked out for Iomen. Seems that earlier I sold some Drow +3 chail, and ran across it while looking for my Melodic plate of which I also sold.

btw, where do I find Robe of Vecna?

You can keep your drow stuff either by dumping a NPC with the gear and have it go back Copper Coronet for example. Or somehow line up your guys all the way to the edge of the area, pause and hand over the stuff from one to another and leave the area. Thing is, certain areas (like the one you emerge into from Underdark) are 'drowstuffdestroying'. If you can avoid spend any time in them ,you can keep your babies.
