Here we go again..
Ok so i decided to to kill Vithal for being the cheap sob he is, since i wanted to know what stuff he kept from me.
Battle goes well, but I lose 2 in armor!? PERMANENTLY!? I went from -3 to -1 after the battle, and whatever i tried i couldnt get it back.
Now this has happend before, in Asylum (the Irenicus battle) where I ofcourse hade to load, since i didnt want less armor....
So whats causing this ?
All my gear was intact and i hadnt lost anything.
had the usual stuff, like Robe of Vecna , Ring of the Gax, Staff of the magi, Bracers of Dexterity (or whatever they are called).
Anyways i hate these things. I check the character stats / armor / savings throws like atleast once every 5 minutes. I mean who wants their character to suck?
So any Ideas ?

wtf is wrong with this game?
How the hell can my armor class just disappear, and never come back.
Now it happened again. while fighting the beholder in the tavern of drow city.
I think it was like when he slowed me or something, or when he dispelled me. However it doesnt comeback when spell is over. Ive tried everything , removing gear and put it back on etc. I WANT MY AC BACK.
It's frustrating, having to load alot because of lost ac due to some weird? reason.
I don't want to depend 100% on summons, because i seem to loose ac if i get hit or cast a spell upon or whatever.
It always drops 2 ac also, weird ?
Is it a bug or is it some strange game mechanics i have no knowledge about ?
It pisses me off anyways.
Since it has happened about 4 times today i guess, meaning i have to load
Im constantly playing in fear, something might f*ck my character up.

Fred, welcome to the forums. Please read the forum rules, particularly the third. Don't curse, or use euphemisms and abbreviations to get around that. The only reason I know about this post right now is that I just got two complaints PM'd to me, one from an irate parent. The site owner is strict about enforcement.
Thanks. No reply is necessary. Carry on.

What's your natural Dex?
I noticed you're using the Gauntlets of Dexterity, which set Dex to 18. And Dex affects your AC. So I'm wondering if you're losing the gauntlets affects somehow (Dispel Magic? Not sure if that's supposed to affect equipment ...) and reverting to your natural Dex.
Although why the affect is permanent I don't know ... have you tried resting? That should get rid of most things ... other than that, a Heal spell might work. That's all I can think of ...

As far as I know, there is no possibility to dispel the effects of the gauntlets of dex or destroy them in anyway. You might have have been cursed/deseased. Have you tried remove curse, cure desease or greater restoration? Might work...
Fred, you are using the appropriate patch, right? And you've also applied the Baldurdash patch?
Uh what is baldurash ?
Im using the newset patch icould find for Tob on biowares site.
And yeah the effects seems permanent enough. Ive tried everything i can think of resting healing etc putting on and off eq. Hmm might try Cure disease though. But there is no symbol on my char telling me everything either =/
And yeah sorry 'bout the forum rules, should have read them =)

Is it possible that you use long duration spells that enhance your AC, like Imrpoved Invisibility, Blur, Magic Armor or Shield ? That would explain why you seem to lose AC when those effects are dispelled or run out.
There are three kinds of people that no one understands: geniuses, madmen and guys that mumble.

Install the Baldurdash patch and replay the battle.
The patch won't raise your AC if it indeed adresses the problem, but if it does adress the problem, it should prevent you from losing AC during the battle.

Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person. ~Chanak

What does it do ? No game changes i hope, like spell changes or enemy changes etc.
Only Bug fixxes or what ?

Check the website you were given the link to.
Look under BG2:ToB Bugfixes and BG2: ToB Tweaks & Cheats. It's your choice, what you wish to add.
But my suggestion would be to grab the FixPack 1.12, and the English Language Game Update. Note that the contents of the fixpack is listed underneath it, and it's very lengthy. Also excellent.

Staff of the magi Bugfix
OMG! =)
The update to this item added while creating Throne Of Bhaal bugfixes also fixes the bug with the equipped AC bonus and Protection From Evil ability that they were being dispelled by Dead Magic Zones, beholder Anti-Magic Rays and Dispel Magic.
Seems close enough for me heh ?=) Afterall it was a Beholder!

I'm pretty sure that's it. I was looking for fixes featuring the Staff of the Magi and dispelling yesterday, in relation to another thread and that's the fix I was thinking of when I read your post.
But you should go ahead and install the whole pack - it will only fix bugs, it won't make the game easier/harder. For an easier/harder game you should look under tweaks&cheats, but I suggest you play the game without any the first time, at least.

You got your question answered, Fred, and you started a new thread about the stop-start motion. So please, don't turn this into yet-another stop-start thread.
