Find Familiar

Post by XazaX »

I have just started Baldur's Gate 2 for the third time. My character is a Sorcerer. My problem is that I can't summon my familiar. I must be a protagonist or something. But what is a protagonist? I have never had this problem before. and I have allways been a Sorcerer!

Thanks in advance...

Is your sorceror intelligent enough. Do you have a 2nd edition D&D rule book on hand. Intelligence may play a factor. I think in 2nd edition Sorceror main ability is there charisma and not intelligence like a Wizard. I haven't run into this summon familiar problem yet. I've summoned mine a couple times through the game just to see what it has but never saving it. sorry I couldn't be more help

Their feathers were fanned in a fiery breeze!
But, funny little birds, they had no wings!
O what shall we do with the funny little things?

Protagonist is a more formal word for 'main character.'

If your main character is a sorcerer of mage, then they should have no problem summoning a familiar.

From the sound of it, though, we'll all have to take a deeper look into this problem.

No, it's Intelligence.

Sorc's can't cast spells from scrolls. If you're using a Familiar scroll, it won't work.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Since when can't Sorcerers use scrolls? It's been a while since I played one, but IIRC, he used a Find Familiar scroll.

They can use scrolls, unless your Int is too low... so you shouldn't reduce your sorceror's Int to the minimum, even he doesn't need high int, because he won't be able to use scrolls with only 9 Int.

Now back on topic ;)
Are you playing a multiplayer game ? In multiplayer, only 'player 1' can cast find familiar.
