To the Surface too soon?

I managed to get approval to enter the door to the surface in kua dungeon, way before im done in underdark.
What will happen if i do ? Will it just skip content or will it have serious consequences? Also will i be able to return if i do ?

You cannot return, you won't miss out on anything "serious" as in, your game wont be ruined. You will just miss out on alot of nice gaming.

Ok yeah i know i would miss out, since i ve played the game atleast 4 times =]
Although last time was probarbly 3 years ago, so i tend to forget some things =)

A few artifacts, as I recall--nothing that will make it impossible to play.
