stuck at the gate NWN

Howdy, I made it to the Elk Tribe Keep. I can't get in without a key and there is no one there to let me in. What did I miss? Thank you for any help! This is my first post. :confused:

Spoiler - highlight the following to read
begin spoiler->In the Orc caves in the are with Fort Illkard(sp?) is a shaman/priest of the Elk Tribe. If you free him he will give you a feather of peace which makes it so you can enter the Elk Tribes caves.

However, I do not know how it is possible to enter withouth this feather, because I've always taken that route<-End spoiler

I tried to get help in another forum (I won't mention their name), and all I got was sarcasm. I appreciate your help more than you know! I have the feather of peace already, but it doesn't seem to help. I go to the gate with my "henchman" girl and there is nobody there but us. Did I miss part of the quest maybe. Thank you Mr. X.

Another spoiler :::There should have been a guy just outside that you killed who drops a key to the keep. Check outside for remains, or head to the divining pool where you can pick up lost plot items, it might have gone to there if you dropped it again:::

It was possible, because although I did free the Elk tribe guy, I'd already done the Black Elk quest by the time I went through the Orc caves.

Xandax & Admo, Thank you so much for your help! I finally found the key behind some rocks. The gatekeeper must have dropped it there. Happy trails to ya'll. I will now be a loyal member.
