Prison level of Catacombs

I have used the word to get through the magically sealed doors on the lower catacombs and went down the stairs to find the wizard that was draggted away by the accarat. When I get to the Prison level, I can't open the double doors in the room with the staircase (ie the first set of doors). I keep getting a message back that something is blocking the doors. What's up with this? How do I get the doors openned? I have tried going back to previously saved games but the same happens when I get to these doors.

When you get the message that something is blocking the door, it usually means that YOU are blocking that door! I don't remember getting that message at any door on the prison level.
So maybe you should try to have your party standing a bit further off when attempting to open that door.

Thanks, I have been trying that and haven't been able to get around it. It has happened before when a beasty was on the other side trying to get through the door to me. In those cases I had to start that part of the battle over again and ensure I let them open the door first. This time though, I can't see anything behind the door. Is there another way to get to the prison level below the lower level of the catacombs? Perhaps I have to open these doors from the other side (though in the past when this happened I received a message saying as much).

I'm having the same problem

I'm having the same problem.... I have noticed a small white circle that is blocking the door. I think it happened when I changed party members in the Silver Fire room on the second level, however I cant seem to get rid of it.... maybe this is what your problem is too.... if you firgue it out please e-mail me..... dellenberger1@cox.net..... thanks

Brinn, I've had this same prob from time to time as well.If backing off a bit doesn't work, try backing off everybody except your rogue (assuming you have a rogue in your party). That usually works for me although I don't know why! Sometimes you can use your strongest party member to take a shot at the door with their sword, axe whatever...good luck!

the door wont let you do anything but "open" and you cant...... I think it is an NPC glitch.......
