I love this place
Just want to say thanx to Xandax and the crew for making this a great forum.
Also want to ask a dumb question....How do I give items to my henchman?
I have the item in my inventory, how do I get it in hers?

You need the Shadows of Undrentide expansion pack or the Horders of the Underdark expansion pack to be able to see your henchmen's inventory.
Otherwise, you are out of luck!
Edit: if you have the expansions, then the henchie's inventory is an option off their radial menu. Just select it, and you can drop stuff in there (and take stuff off them as well).
There are user made mods which also allow your PC to interact with your henchie to swap items, through dialogues.
Cheers,
TGHO

By talking to the henchmen while you have them hired. Every henchman has a quest in every chapter- and the pattern is always the same. They will require you to find a specific item - and once you give it to them, they give you a reward.
The catch about this is that they will only tell you about the stuff that they seek -very late- in each chapter.
The reason for this is that the henchmen quests are secretly bound to the main quest. Only when the main quest of the current chapter is almost over they will finally be willing to spill the beans on what trinket they need this time.
And accordingly, if the main quest has not proceeded far enough, they will just evade your questions by saying stuff like "sorry we don't know each other good enough yet".
So, since you hear about the desired items very late, it pays off to hold on to any strange/unknown quest items that you find on your way. (you can recognize those because they sell - or rather DONT sell - for 0gp) These usually turn out to be the henchman items.
There is one more catch to it, though... and it's a highly annyoing one. Namely that you can only fulfill a certain henchman quest if you have already successfully completed all previous quests that henchmen had offered in earlier chapters.
Meaning if you're already in chapter 2 and you didn't fulfill any henchman quest in chapter one, then you're 100% stuck in terms of henchmen quests. Plus, even if you DID complete all henchmen quests in the previous chapter, the game won't recognize that if you have sold the reward items that you got from the henchmen back then. Unfortunately those reward items are NOT quest items, so they can easily be accidentally sold.

Actually, I don't think this is quite correct, sorry Zel. I think it is actually dependant on the level of the PC - for example in Chapter One of the base game you have to be eighth level (the henchie has to be seventh) to give you the quest. In Chapter Two I think it is 13th level for you, and 12th for the henchman.
The reason you are thinking that it is tied to the main quest, is because you will not reach the required level until almost the end of the Chapter.
@biofarmaco
Oh, I forgot to mention - if you are playing the base NWN game, there is no way to access the inventories of the NPCs! Sorry mate.
With regards to henchie quest, you have to fulfil the quest in each Chapter to be able to to it in the next Chapter. Don't go into Luskan without fulfilling all the Quests! Furthermore, you don't need the NPCs with you to do the quest, but you do need them with you to get and complete the quest (i.e./ get their special item from them). You can do all the NPC quest, too! I recommend it, as some of the items are very nice.
Cheers,
TGHO

That is correct. Henchmen quests are tied to number of levelups, not the main-quest per se.
You need to level up 3-4 times (can't remember excatly) - where they will advance some of the story per level.
This is why you can talk multiple times to a henchmen-type person after you have leveled up 4 times and get all the quest-dialogs.

Well yeah, I too once read that it is just bound to your own level on some board... but after some rather strange experiences I was more and more willing to believe that it was rather the mainquest status.
Not that I disbelieve - it's most likely the charlevel indeed, but judging from playing experience, it always felt wrong to me.

I can confirm that you have to be level six in chapter one to be able to complete the henchman quests. When I am playing, the second I hit level six I leave the area and go and get the henchman items that I can (usually 3 by this time.) To do this hire them and ask them about them 3 times. The third time they will give you the special item (if you have their quest item). You can then dismiss them. There is a certain regenerating ring that I consider essential.
I don't know what level you need to be in later chapters as by the time I get the items I can finish the the conversations already.
