Lore: how do you figure it out?

Post by Klorox »

I know your class, Int and Wis all affect how high your Lore is, but does anybody know how much?I plan on playing a low Wis Bard, but I don't know how low I can go without affecting my Lore ability.

IIRC Bards get +10 lore per level
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.

Yeah, thanks.

But how do you calculate the other factors?

Int and Wis affect your lore score... but how much?

The Lore bonuses for high Int and Wis are detailed in the manual - I currently don't have it with me, but I'll check it up for you tonight Klorox.

Cheers,

the table for bonuses/penalties goes something like this (assuming Icewind Dale and BG have the same tables, im using the IWD manual)

Stats = Lore bonus/penalty

3-6 = -20
7-9 = -10
10-14 = 0
15 = +3
16 = +5
17 = +7
18 = +10
19 = +12

you cant get any higher than 19, and thats only if you're a gnome (not even sure if they can be bards) so i will stop there.

BTW:

Bards: 10 lore/level
Thieves and Mages: 3 lore/level
All others: 1 lore/level

Sure, Clerics and Druids require Wisdom for their spells, but you'd think that they'd have gain Lore points equivalent to a Mage or Rogue.

Thanks. PLease continue, though. Wisdom adds to Lore, and you can have up to a 21 WIS in BGI.
