Need Help on TorGal
my solo Stalker just cant seem to beat him, im on Core Rule, and i want to avoid toning down the difficulty if possible.
Since he regenerates so fast and hit so fast, i have used all the summon items on him, horn of vahalla, staff of air, effreeti bottle, spider figurine...also i have prebuffed myself with the limited spells, namely armor of faith, haste, and chant, but with my -6 AC, he hits me constantly, my life goes down like crazy even if im drinking potions constantly, if i try to run, he will follow me instead of attacking my summons, allowing him to regenerate back to Uninjured...
i have improved torgal installed btw.
any suggestions? thanx.

Yes, Torgal (improved) is extremely hard to kill. He makes you die due to his claw, a new great knife. The "claw" makes him drain your charisma (or something like that), your probably dieing because when it hits 0 you die.
His regen is incredible too.
I'm not sure how I can help. but what I did was get Kesley to cast every defence I have, then cast haste, and storm him (Kelsey taking the damage) and loading him with more stone skins and portions that improve his Charisma. Basicly everyone stormed him, melee wepeons out, magic flying all over the place, and he died. (also I lured all of his teammates out first.
Its one of the hardest Improved fights I've had so far.

If you're going to do tactics, solo no less, why are ya back here asking for advice? That's not digging a hole, thats renting out a back hoe, making the biggest pit in the earth it can possibly muster, jumping in, and yelling, "won't somebody help me figure out how to get outta here?"
Which is fine and all, of course we will help you, I just wanted to put it into perspective what it looks like from the outside.

Right you are, Ken.

well, looks like im gonna have to get rid of improved torgal part and maybe lower down the difficulty.
i was pretty tired of playing with over-powered chars such as sorceror, thought it would be fun and challenging to do a solo stalker with all the mods.
my previous solo battles with torgal, i always have some form of caster meleer hybrid, so i can summon a crap load of tanks (animal summoning, elementals, invisible stalkers, skeleton warriors, etc.) and cast a crap load of protection (stoneskin, armor of faith, haste, aid, enchant, etc.), and after the preparation, it is rather easy, but not for stalker obviously.
im level 16 right now btw.
thx for all the help anyways!

I recently replayed the game and was quite shocked at the fact that my protagonist was able to instant-kill Torgal with a cloudkill spell. I don't have tactics mod but I kind of hope it fixes that because it's really anti-climax.
As you solo stalker I suggest some creatures to keep him bussy while you hit him with a couple of arrows of biting. They really slow him down and can cause quite some damage. After that you can just charge in and finish what's left of him . If you already have the flail assembled, the slowing effect is really great so maybe try to hit him once with it before you swap to your normal weapon(s).

I do not suffer from insanity! I enjoy every minute of it!
This is odd, I just beat TorGal this morning on a normal Core Rules game.
What I use to dish it out is binding spells. Entangle and Web are key to getting free shots in and you safe. It will be harder than hell to do this stuff solo, but maybe castong Haste (really important), Entangle (good for missile throwers becaue he can still attack, Web (most important to missle or melee because he is held with an AC penality) and Free Movement (so Entagle and Web have no effect on you)
A Hasted character with a bow could run around and get lots of free hits in while keeping you out of his way. Arrows of Biting would be good there.
Good luck....you're gonna need it.

@the eye of terr: Well, with tactics, you don't get the cold flail head untill you beat torgal, so that doesn't really help, and its unlikely that old mans child is profficient with that wepeon.
Also they fixed the cloudkill bug.
Can a stalker backstab? - and what magic spells do you currently have available. Haste as everyone else said is good, but I remember also using slow, it works a charm.

i can backstab, but even if i hide in shadow, torgal will still seek me out and attack me head on, and by the time i backstab and get ready for the next stab, he has healed himself already. i cannot cast spells that is aimed directly at him, spells like hold, slow...i can only do area-effect spells.
o boy, its gonna be a tough battle...and the worst part is, i tried uninstalling the torgal part of tactics, and went back into the game, instead of getting the original torgal, he is nowhere to be found, i went into the room and i see only the yuan-ti mage and trolls.
worst case is that im gonna have to SK it out...very very reluctant though, not gonna do it until im absolutely desperate...

I know, you need detect invisibility to be able to target him with spells. But with slow, it is an area effect spell, so you can use it.
If it really is impossible, hit Ctrl+y (I think it is) and he will just die, it will do 1k+ damage. - but you get no exp.
but first lure all his **** out. Its best to just take him down, with tactics. Even if you do Ctrl+y. The game goes mad when you install+uninstall mods during a game. It just goes mad.
With slow, he is killable, I think it reduces his regen rate. So do try it. (if your able to find the rat).

Fighting Improved Tor Gal (one of the Tactics mod components) solo with core rules gave me real trouble as well.
As others have recounted, he's extremely fast, aggressive and lethal.
He's also invisible and has robust magic resistance.
But I finally nailed him.
Whether it was a fluke or not, I don't know.
Seeing him fall certainly surprised the heck out of me.
I'll take the victory, however.
Here's how I did it.
It turned out to be quite simple, actually.
At first, after trying everything I could muster (ie, buffing up with defensive spells, casting Improved Haste, priming myself with whirlwind attacks, using Vhailor's Helm for the simulacrum advantage, plus wearing other assorted gear to take my armor class to -11), I was only able to reduce Improved Tor Gal to badly injured condition.
I lasted a long time in these attempts because of the armor, mind you, but since my character is a Fighter/Mage/Thief, I couldn't cast any spells, which was counterproductive.
Ergo, since I was having no success in this manner, I decided to exchange the heavy armor for the robe of Vecna and attack Improved Tor Gal with spells instead.
To be honest, I had little confidence it would work.
So I didn't buff up much beforehand, casting only Stoneskin and Haste on myself. I planned to nail him fast, you see, and if it didn't succeed, well, all the buffing in the world wouldn't help anyway.
Just before I started the battle, I cast True Sight, as I'd learned prior that Tor Gal was cancelling my spells because he was invisible/sanctuaried.
Once the fight was underway, I hit him quickly with Dispel Magic from Carsomyr to strip away his magic resistance.
Then, and this is the shocker, I zapped him with Disintegrate (!--?) and bang, he went down, giving me a cool 25000 experience points and the cold flail head for the Flail of Ages.
As I say, quite simple.
At least I now know it can be done solo.
