Not able to purchase HK47

Post by rebel_dream »

So here's the thing, the first time around playing KOTOR I went to the LS and had no trouble buying HK47 but the second time around i went to the DS and so far I have not been able to purchase him. When i talk to the droid dealer, I have tried both the nice way and the not so nice way of negotiating the price but so far the option of actually being able to say "I'll take him" has not come up. Any ideas/suggestions?

Did you wait until you'd received the tip to buy the droid from one of your future teammates?

Sorry--confusing him with T3.

Why can't you purchase him? What happens when you have sufficient money?

What's the dialog tree you get? This is what I found:

"What do you have available in your shop?"
"Let me ask a few questions about HK-47."
"What functions have you tested?"
"I'm interested. Let's talk price."

I don't think the game looks at the amount of money you have. I didn't have enough my first game, but still got around to talking about the price.

The tip about puchasing HK comes from that environment guy that is arguing with the Czerka-drone in their office. After you have talked to her, about the license, he'll be waiting for you outside the office and talk with you about the sandpeople. He is the one that first mentiones HK as a translation droid.

It is also possible that you have to talk to HK before trying to purchase him. I usually do that, it is a nice conversation.

I think money is a factor. I bargained the seller down, but I didn't have the 2500. It didn't give me the option to buy. I did the swoop races, and then went back. He still wouldn't let me buy. I went to swap my bonds for credits from the weird lookin' guy by the ship, and then finally I could purchase HK-47.

I never talk to HK before I purchase him.

if you're playing DS, u should first bargain some, then talk to hk who tells you to threaten the dude, then go threaten the guy and get hk for 2500.
