Hi.
What level can a four person party expect to reach by the endgame, in normal mode?
Thanks

This will actually be my second attempt with a 4 character party, the first was many months ago and was abandonned mainly due to the fact paladins don't make particularly good tanks and my cleric/monk combo was one of the worst combinations ever.
This time I'm thinking along the lines of
Half-Orc Barbarian/Fighter - Tank
Human Watcher of Helm/Paladin - Secondary Tank/Healer/Summoner
Rock Gnome Sorcerer - Bombardier/Alchemist
Human Bard/Fighter/Rogue - Diplomat, Thief, Scout, Sniper and various other back up-functions.
Any suggestions for useful feats/strategies would be welcome.
Oh and switching the bard levels for something elso is NOT an option.

I prefer smaller parties, less micro-managing. My current game consists of just one character, but I'm going to add others in as I progress. I currently have a Female Drow Rogue 1/Fighter 1/Cleric Demarch of Mask 1. She's going to focus mainly on Cleric levels, but will get to Rogue 3/Fighter 4. I'm not sure when I'm going to add my next character, probably wait until the xp gets too low. Next character will be my Drow's brother (Male Drow Rogue 3/Fighter 2/Wizard X)

...I would suggest to give her 3 monk levels and let her fight without shield and armor - with the defensive buffs of mask she will be extremly hard to hit and very fast !

I just started my 1:st 4-char party.
HalfOrc - Pure Barb Polearm/Greatsword.
Human - 4Figt/xxbard Polearm spear).
Drow - Cleric of Oghma Mace.
Wildelf - Sorcerer.
Sofar i´ve finished the goblin threat and are heading for Shaengarn bridge,
my chars are all at level 3 and 1 more level of fighter then im going for Bard.
The diff sofar has been rather nice, my cleric got [HOLD] on her by the evil
goblin wiz and got smashed, other then that - its been fun .
Im really looking forward to see if the fighter/bard in IWD2 can match up with
the one in NwN... i think NOT .
Ohh.. almost forgot .
How in the holy smiters name do you kill the
Yuanti-guardian with a party of 4 . Sofar i´ve only been able
to kill the dragon out of pure luck and lots of power, but since a party of
4 is not based on power..

Dragon... that was piece of cake.. 6 shades... all basic boost spells.. and cleric keeps healing my party... with mass heals and ordinary heals.. when my bard has mirror image.. he will last quite long.. same is with my Sorcerer.. dual wielding 2 shorswords....

Have some some summons to help your tank (have him to place the last idol so he will be targeted by the Guardian), and then with your spellcasters: lower resistance/doom/malison->finger of death/disintegrate-> dead Dragon!!!

I sent my fighter to summon the dragon, then cast Otiluke's Resilient Sphere on him, Lower Resistance on the dragon 3 times, then started beating him with Mordekainen's Sword while my cleric kept casting electricity spells on him. My rogue was just standing and observing So never worry, it can be done with four.
Up the IRONS!

Out of interest, has anyone actually fought the guardian (toe-to-toe in melee), without using large number of summons, Ot's Sphere tactics or instant death spells, and won?
I remember that first time I played the game, I was using the Rose pre-made party and the guardian was pretty hard. Eventually the paladin and druid killed it, but it seemed to take ages. It wasn't a smart way to fight, but it was my first time through and I had just finished BG2 (so I was used to fighting dragons close up). I do like the idea of a pally killing the guardian...

If your Sorc/Wizard can cast Mordenkainens Sword, the Guardian becomes much easier to kill. Again I used summons (undead mostly) to soak up his melee attacks. Without Summoned creatures or Otilukes Res. Sphere as protection the only real way to survive melee with this guy would be with many mirror images. Blink and Blur would help as would Improved Invis. As these give an immediate chance to miss from concealment. Does the guardian have Blind Fight? Some of the Yaun Ti do. Basically you'd need to tie the Guardian up in Melee and hit him from afar with Mord. Sword and repeated lightning attacks like Call Lightning and Static Charge.
Question: If you have the Blind Fight Feat and have Blink in effect, and miss an attack because of the 20% instant miss penalty from Blink do you get to recheck?

@ Heidrek
I think I used so many instances of heal and spontaneous heal spells the last time. As I had the gnome wizard and couldn't find mord's sword scroll, I was stuffed on that strategy. Yes, my druid kept casting the lightning spells but that took a while as they strike not so often.
Will check out the blind-fight thing. If that is the case, blind-fight would be more useful! At the moment, I think it's quite a useless feat. Not many enemies are invisible in the conventional sense when they attack you. I would have also thought that if you were blinded, it would also work (hence the name blind-fight), but I don't recall it making any difference.
@Brynn
Yes, I'd admit it was a stupid, blind luck battle!
