Fragarach, evil?

Post by Wretched »

Greetings and Salutations!

I've read a post earlier in a forum that there was a way to make the sword both evil and holy. So that it could be use by both evil and good chars.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I wouldn't advise on doing this, since 'good' chars suffer a level-loss when equipping a 'Evil' blade, and evil chars. likewise suffer a level-loss when equipping a 'Holy' weapon.

So if Frag. had both Evil & Holy on it everybody would suffer.

But if you want to do it anyways, heres how :

Open the protos.tab file with a text editor like notepad or such. (it's located in the TOEE\data\rules directory.

Use the find function and search up 'Fragarach' (it's line 4016 and/or 4017)

There you'll see information reading like this :
weapon chaotic 0 0 weapon holy 0 0.

Simply change 'chaotic' to 'evil' and the blade should have both effects on it.

Some people have experienced trouble with editing their protos file, but it works fine for me. I use Notepad with Wordwrap off btw. For your own safety be sure to make a backup of the file before you start meddeling with it.

Hope this helps :) :) :)

Thanks mate. I've reconsidered though. Don't want to mess with the game that much.
Desided to play through with no help at all as an evil campaign. Got plenty of other weps to use as an evildoer. :D

evil & for some part chaotic weapons a quite useless cause most of the monsters are evil or chaotic so they won't be effected from the extra damage !!!

...would use frag, scather & and holy weapons even with evil characters cause all you loose are 10 HP AFAIK !!!

...not very much for what you gain with these weapons !!!

Actually, such a character is treated ENTIRELY as 1 level below, that includes attack bonuses and everything else. If Wretched can bear that, then that's okay. If not, then you'd think he'd more than likely be disinclined.

...is this really in TOEE included ?

I gave Darla (the Alu-demon - chaotic evil AFAIR) a holy greatsword - and the only effect I realized was that she looses 10 HP - but maybe I just didn't recognized that she has lost a level...

...but if you really lose a level - who cares about the 10HP and the little bit lower saves when you have weapons hitting automatically (you also can ignore the -1 AB in this case)

...same thing for Darla (don't need saves cause of SR) and the -1 BAB what she eventually even didn't get as sorc and -10 HP aren't that worse...

Trust me, I gave a Chaotic Good Half-Orc Barbarian an Axiomatic Glaive, and he lost an entire level while he was wielding it. Lost hit points, attack bonus, and other things that I can't think of off the top of my head. If I was waiting to take a shower (have a college class today), I'd post what info I could find right now.
