How to get multiple strongholds?

Post by Top Dog »

I am have a dual class character, but did not get a keep for my first class, despite the fact that this was the first "stronghold quest" that I did.
I would like to know how one can get multiple strongholds, especially after the fact (through either Shadowkeeper or the CLUA commands), since I do not want to restart.

Any help here? Thanks!

What class combination do you have ?

Do you have a dual class (human changed to another prof.) or a multiclass (demihuman) character ?

Makes big difference. Example : If you play a human fighther, you must get the keep before switching to a mage getting the sphere
If you have a demihuman F/MU, you should get the keep directly and if you after that went through the spehere, you get it in addition (refuse to bring lavok out)

I've followed the post and so far as I can tell there is a ligit way to get two strongholds, (which I see as fair since I can't get 9'th level spells with a F/C/M).

But after declining De'arnise and completing the Planar Sphere, (talking to Telos and accepting the offer), and coming back to talk to Nalia on the bridge, all she wants to do is join my party, (no stronghold).

What am I doing wrong, there are no addons or other pilferages to the game YET, can I do it with CLUA, and how??

Try Sabre's multi stronghold patch - it opens all the strongholds and will keep you busy for ages... ;)

As Yshania said, you can use my patch. But there might be a problem, if you've already tlked to the person who give out the stronghold - after finishing the quest leading up to the stronghold - then the patch will do nothing. The only way around this is to change several global variables, but it'll take time to search for them - maybe I should make a list of them, not yet but soon.

I heard a rumor that you can get both strongholds, (De'Arnise and Planar Sphere) with a multi-class main charecter this way. To ACCEPT De'Arnise the first time, dropping Nalia at the keep, getting Valygar, and completing the Planar Sphere. But only if you refuse to take Lavok out of the sphere, and you don't have the Baulderdash bug fix pack installed.

If someone can confirm this I will just do the planar sphere over again, (the 3rd time, sheesh), and take my time. With a rested party it should be a peice of cake.

(I didn't think Sabre's Multi-stronghold patch would work for me, since I've already gotten the dialoug from Nalia, and she is waiting for me on the bridge after I receive the planar sphere.)

I finally solved my problem, WOOO HOOO!! Apparently uninstalling BG2 and reinstalling it doesn't remove the Baulderdash patch. But reading the very inclusive readme file that came with it gave the answer. All I had to do was delete the Nalia.dlg file that the patch created in the override folder. I suppose if you did the De'Arnise quest first and have the baulderdash patch, you could also delete the Lavok.dlg file in the same override patch and get the planar sphere as a second stronghold.

Probably cost me what ever romance nalia had planned, but... ohh well...
