Video Card Question

My current video card is an OEM ATi Radeon 8500. When playing this game, it would often crash. My best guess was this specific chipset's poor OpenGL support.

I use my system primarily for Photoshop and DV work. I am considering one of the Matrox cards. Although the LucasArts site says these cards are not supported, Matrox drivers tend to be better than ATi's.

Would appreciate hearing from anyone that is successful at using a Matrox card with this game.
