Need advice on DS Soldier/Guardian

Post by Cheekybeast »

So, I really have no idea how to build a decent darkside soldier/guardian at all. :(

My character is level 2, with St and DEX at 15+2.
First question is which should I go for? More ST or more DEX?

Second thing I'm stumped on is my skills, and where I should put them?

Thirdly, I think I'm going to go with dual sabers, if it's the best option. This I don't even know for sure  Should I go with CS or Dual Weapon Fighting?

So, if this is the case, can somone recommend some Feats that would be the best for this character.

Force Powers. Again, I am stuck. Obviously I want to use DS powers, but what's best?

Sorry for the noobish questions, this is my second time playing, and I royaly messed up my last character, who was DS also. :(

Hey, I just finished a game in which I was a darkside soldier/guardian, and I was very successful. To answer your questions:
1) I'd say go for more strength as it boosts both your attack rating AND your damage, rather than dexterity which only boosts your attack rating (with lightsabers that is) and defense. The way I see it, you don't need high defense if enemies can't withstand the might of your lightsabers for very long. :D
2) I put my skills into treat injury, since the other skills are not all that useful IMO. I thought about persuade, but I just chose the force powers Affect/Dominate Mind instead.
3) If you're a soldier/guardian, I'm assuming that you are focusing on melee combat, so I'd go for dual weapon fighting for the extra attack per round. Also, I'd go for dual lightsabers if you want better customization (more crystals), doublebladed for more power.
4) When it comes to feats, I used flurry for the extra attack, but then I realized the power of power attack. They are both good, so I think it is just a matter of preference. Also, toughness is good (extra VP is always good) as are implants (there are some really nice implants out there).
5) When it comes to powers, since a guardian doesn't get that many force points, I used powers not restricted by armor, like throw lightsaber, force wave, insanity, kill, etc., so that I could wear armor. Lightning and Drain Life may be powerful, but if you focus on melee combat, they are not that necessary IMO. Also, you can't wear armor with those. I know that a lot of people say armor is bad because you can't use master speed, but I found that with my overpowering attack I didn't need the extra defense and attacks.
That's about it. Have fun! :D

have fun with critical attack too...

with high strength, and great armor, ( if you put points into strength, you will need armor..best is the little shrimp's armor..calo nord...) you will get consistant stuns with master critical attack. of course, you won't see the terror of sneak attack+critical strike, if you play soldier, but you won't miss it with high strength, and powerful armor.
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

As far as Force powers go, most of them will be Dark Side, of course, but don't neglect core powers such as the Push/Whirlwind/Wave series and Force Resistance/Immunity. You may even want to invest in Stun/Disable Droid even though it is a Light Side power, as it makes dealing with droid enemies much easier. Just be aware it will cost more to use if you're a Dark Jedi. Dark Jedi have no powers that directly affect droids.

Another tactic is to manually level up your other Jedi party members with Light Side powers to complement your own.

I favor Two-weapon fighting as it allows the use of more lightsaber crystals later in the game. The Flurry and Power Attack series seem to be more effective than the Critical Strike series, but I could be wrong.

go for strength 4 attribute points, 1 into dex to make it 16. This way youlle end up with 15+4+4(revanrobes)+2(cns str enhancer)+5(dominator gnts)= 30 str. Calo Nord's Battle Armor really really rules for this build since low will saves means that you can be paralyzed with insanity, but immunity to mind affecting takes care of that. Cardio Power System for Implant, extra vp always helps. Force Powers go for insanity, speed, and plague. Force whirlwind or wave are nice too.
