Technical question...

Post by Waverly »

How do you access the higher resolutions that I heard BGII is capable of, although not officially supported? I have a GeForce 2 GTS 32 if that is any help.

BTW, as long as I am in question mode, I can't find a good weapon for Jaheira... I especially can't find a way to make use of her club proficiency. Same problem with Anomen (pretty unimaginative: 'a nomem' as in 'a name').

I have Jaheira using the Gnasher club. I'm sorry that I don't know the exact specifics, but basically it is the one where splinters stay in the person after she hits, and she keeps doing damage to them (1 or 2 points per round) for the next five rounds. It seems like a really good club.

It's Ok piggie. I'm reading all of the threads too and it's hard to keep them straight.

Waverly: Don't you have a BGConfig icon in your start menu? There is a tab for video(or graphics) that you can use to set the resolution higher. I tried it last night for the first time (1024x768). It slowed my computer WAAAAAY down when I got into a big battle soon afterward. I ended up going back to the 800x600 setting.

BTW I have a 900 MHz Athlon with a 32MB Geforce 2 and 256 MB PC133 RAM. I was pretty suprised that it couldnt handle the work load.

Hex, try this:
Switch of 3d effects and the background sound for footsteps (walking etc, don't know how this option is named in the english version)

According to the manual should 3d effects not slow down.

But I did that, and on the one PC I play in 1024x768 with normal speed, and the hardware is even a bit slower (850 Athlon and MX2 graphic)

Jaheira in trademeet afther the stores are open again, a red looking club that is +4 and do acid damage, Amoen warhammer +2 either from ribald mart or the rift area in a nich on the bridge.(hammer name: lady ashaba. Back from BG I)
I used the 1024 resulotion but I found it was too slow and the characters to small(from my taste).

Thanks for the all the info. I bumped resolution and framerate and am quite happy with the results. Graphics are much crisper on a large moniter this way.

Still get the occasional slowdown, but restarting seems to fix this. I don't think my card is 100% compatible.
