Dual-classing my BG1 mage

Post by Molokoi »

I have a mage I have been playing all the way through BG1, and really want to dual-class her to a fighter type when I get into BG2. What fighter types are the best to pick? Can I pick either monk or barbarian, or would I have to pick a fighter? Or perhaps a swashbuckler?

U can't dual to a monk or barbarian if I am not mistaken

To enable to dual to fighter, u must have at least 17STR and 15INT

A swashbuckler is a thief class, so u will need 17DEX and 15INT

BTW, why dual to a fighter???

most ppl do it the other way around...I am interested in hearing your strategy

To the Swashbuckler: you can't dual to a kit. you can only dual to a plain class other than Barbarian, Monk, Sorcerer, Paladin, Ranger...
so there's only Fighter, Thief and Cleric.

I would recommend dualing into a thief, considering that the mages low hitpoints will not make him well suited to close combat. The rouge level up fast, thus regaining spellcasting quickly, and would be well augumented by even lowlevel spells like invisibility and blindness (Not to mention that a quick mirror image would get in handy when the backstab didn't work as planned).

No thief as quite as scary as the Illusionist/thief after all. ;-)

I just wanted to dual-class her because that was my plan all along. I just like the idea of making her into a fighter, and she has 18str 18dex 18con and 18dex. Not horrible charisma or wisdom, but not high enough for a cleric. I spent a lot of time rolling her, and just want to make her into a fighter.

Negative Elenias, you can dual a ranger to a cleric (never tried it though)

But if you were talking for the mage only, you were right
Helm sees all. Do not offend him in intent or in deed!
