Interesting

Post by Siiarron »

I have been running an online "Vamp Bar" for years now. It seems interesting that a game where 2/3 of your stats and half of your "powers" are social should have no multiplayer. People are still playing Redemption today (literally, today), due to the fact the Multiplay is so excellent. What's next, single play Monopoly?

They may get the Vamp wannabe crowd with this game, but I believe the fans of the PNP and Redemption both are going to skip this product because it doesn't supply the one thing they gain from it: Social interaction.

I feel if Troika wasn't prepared to create the game in the spirit it was intended, they should have passed on the project and let someone produce it who will do it the way it was intended. Pardon me, by intended I mean myself and my 12 players use Redemption (to this day), as a tool to socially interact. Perhaps they should have done more research beforehand?

Well, you have to consider that the true Vampire fans and players don't play it electronically. They play it table top, or LARP. This is just a medium used to try and pull people into the game system, and have a fun experiance. Just because it lacks a multiplayer function, doesn't mean Troika has not studied the market. If anything, it's a good move on their part (As, regardless of what you say about Redemptions multiplay, it's been proven that Vampire doesn't translate well online considering the vast scope of the World of Darkness, and how you can't possible use all the powers as they were meant to be used in tabletop.)

Not entirely true.

Some people are less mobile than others.

It just hit me that if you DL the Mods (I have), you not only get ALL the clans, not just the 7, but you also get Werewolf. All in all, other than the slightly enhanced graphics, if I bought it I would *lose* clans and multiplay, and actually be paying 50 bucks for a downgrade. And I can't get my money back for my pre-order either, as "I got a T-Shirt with the pre-order", quothe the store.

So I'll just stick with the original and eat the money for the pre-order. *SIGH*

Two things

First off I can't wait to play this wonderful SINGLE player game that lets you enjoy the World of Darkness in a graphically advanced game that stays true to the table top system. Second, I recently bought Redemption due to my years of playing WoD and interest in its potential as a video game. So, since I would love to play a multiplayer version of a multiplayer tabletop game could someone link me to those great patches and mods ya'll are talking about that makes Redemption (a game far from true to the tabletop system) the great game that you are making it out to be. This way I can get a wonderful advanced experience with Bloodlines and also fulfill my desire to finally be able to multiplayer in the WoD. Thanks so much.

At least you're not bitter, eh?

I've played Vampire tabletop, larp, computer, ccg, and even boardgame (no, it hasn't been published quite yet), and of those, larp did the best job of capturing the social aspect of the game. Even so, I'm really looking forward to Bloodlines (I've been told by my girlfriend to wait for Christmas), because I've seen the previews.

Bloodlines is visually stunning. Compared to Bloodlines, Redemption is a low-tech eyesore. Unless some degree of blindness is involved in your lack of mobility, you will be able to see at a glance that this game is NOT a downgrade.

Here's a wild idea that you might consider: try playing Bloodlines without trying to force it into the narrow concept of being exactly like Redemption. You say that you've already paid for it, without even bothering to look at the previews that have been online for many months, so you might as well give it a try. But play it as it's own game, and see if you can find a new way to enjoy the World of Darkness.

Alternatively, you could just huddle there and moan about the money that you recklessly wasted, rocking back and forth while waiting for your multiplay friends to help make the pain go away. Oh, wait, you're already doing that. Surely trying something new isn't going to destroy the quality of your life.

Well, It's all in the experience

First off, I am a Single player, and like it as it is. I have tried some Multiplayer games and also MMORPGs like lineage 2 and so on, the thing that struct me was how easy it is, regardless of the efforts of the GMs there is always somebody destroying the entire mood and atmosphere just for fun. It may be near acceptable in some games, like cs, but i reckon that with Bloodlines, the atmosphere should never be broken by n00bs, lags, and overall jackasses.

Unlike some other guys, i think that there is nothing wrong with a tight packed thrill ride ozzing with atmosphere and personality, something that u can play at ur leisure, indulge and won't get fustrated by hackers or other idiots. Because, comon, we know they are out there everywhere.

True vamp fans play table top? Thats the same as saying true D&D fans play table top...tell that to the nwn communty most do both or just play online. I would bet most table top D&D fans have nwn anyway and they also have a gaming communty so i would argue more people play these games online. However i wouldnt pay for a mmmorg they are terrible! GRIND GRIND - no roleplaying .....waste of time....it would have to be like nwn to have a chance

But as a single player its still a kick ass game!
