I noticed posts on occasion talking about how fast they got through the game and was curious how fast I could do it...
Obviously, if you skip parts of the game it will go faster but I consider that cheating. I did all of the stronghold quests (Keep, Windspear, Umar, Trademeet, Eyeless, Mae'var, Five Flagons), as well as slavers, Nalia's quest (Isaea), Mazzy's quest (poisoner), Kangaxx, Twisted Rune, Yoshi's Heart, and several other minor quests.
I only stopped when the whole party gets tired...sometimes not even then. I avoided Aerie since she seems to get tired first in my other games so now it is Jahiera who is always complaining of being tired (usually after using a Greater Restoration scroll).
Moving this fast has resulted in some interesting things:
1) Almost every time I rest I have a dream sequence and a conversation with Jahiera.
2) Jahiera began talking about the ones we were missing when we were talking to Adalon for the second time (long after we had Imoen back).
3) Nalia has been with my party the whole time as the keep was the first quest I did. Isaea finally caught up with us just as we got done talking with Elhan.
4) I still haven't gone back to my keep. I think gold has been deposited twice.
5) Keldorn just mentioned going home for the first time as we were running through the district on our way to get Nalia back and go kill Bohdi for the second time.
I'm now fighting Irenicus in the Tree on day 29 and expect to finish the whole thing on day 29 or 30.
Go Speed Racer!
Heh...My first time through took 79 days. Actually though, I was wrong...it was only day 24 and I'm done now!
If you want to go fast, having a lot of fighter types (who don't need to recharge spells all the time) is key. Potions and regeneration items also help. I'll also point out that I used and abused almost every trick I know in the game (stealing and selling equipment for money, pickpocketing a second ring of Gaxx, etc.)
If your first action after leaving Irenicus' prison is to head to the slums, buy/steal all the Potions of Master thievery from the thief above Galen's then head over to the theives or Roger to make a fortune you can have the best equipment money can buy (in Athkala without the secret stash) and be in Ch3 before the end of day 1.
I'm sure the thieves have their own mint and apparently so does Roger!

BG2 was reputed to run four 250 hrs, don't quite know where they got that figure from, i got to 100 + hrs first time through, but that was because i screwed up and spent half the time looking for a key i had deposited somewhere

I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
