Level cap Throne Mod install order
Level cap Throne Mod install order
I am guessing that the level cap in shadows of Amn is 14 for all charactors.
I have not installed Throne of Bhaal yet.
I have installed Officail patch, baldurdash patch and ease of use, maybe some other some mundane patchs or fixs.?...?
My question is how do I go about installing or reinstalling these componets in the proper order.
Any recomendations for addition add on mods I don't allready have??
Nothing to hard, (Like tatical sounds like a nightmare)..
Thanks

First of all, SoA has an XP cap on all characters ... while that translates to 14th level for a Druid, it's actually around 20 for everyone else.
Second, I don't know how well ToB will work installed on top of other mods. My advice would be to back up your save game folder, then uninstall SoA. Then you can start fresh with SoA, ToB, Official patch, and whatever else you want.
As for which mods, a couple of recent threads on this are Purist Mod List and Why Mods
So druids need more exp to get higher levels than other classes??
Don't you have your manual? It should list the respective amount of experience required by each class to advance at every level.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
LVL Cap
If you've installed EASE of USE, you may have already installed the XP Cap remover... Weidu puts it in there for you...
For Mods, just goto modlist.pocketplane.net
Be careful, though... Many require ToB to work...
If you mean to install ToB, start over with a fresh install... Mods + ToB = Badness
I could give you the list that I usually play with, and the ones I've been meaning to try, but they very according to tastes...
Do you want new quests, NPCs, Items, or something bigger?
Let us know, and I'm try to tailor my response...
BTW, the only hard and fast rule about mods is to install patches, balderdash, non-weidu, then weidu... Some mods react badly with each other, though, and some are just plain buggy...

Oh first thing I thought I had Baldurdash, but don't know what the file would be called when I downloaded it into my documents. Any clue to what it would be named?
Is the xp cap remover in the ease of use mod?
Do I install shadow then patch then throne then patch or
shadows then throne then patch?
Is ease of use weidu?
I want some badness so how about more quest for more xp.
Also maybe more npcs if for fun temporary purposes, spice, quest, ect. I'd probably want the charactors I have allready for most of game or to finish it.
Maybe items of interest or use but nothing to out of game balance.
???????
Thanks Stamoski.
With Baervans might I go.

Assuming you mean the fixes: BG2ThroneOfBhaalFixPack112.exe
Is the xp cap remover in the ease of use mod?
Yes, that's one place to get it, although they actually took it from the Baldurdash Tweaks and Cheats.
Do I install shadow then patch then throne then patch or

Install SoA, then ToB, then the ToB patch. You don't need the SoA patch, as it's already included in ToB.

Mods
Install order is not all that important, as long as they are all Weidu mods...
Some might conflict, check the individual mod documentation...
It's always a good idea to start a new game to take advantage of all the changes...
Quests?
The Quest pack adds some minor extras, as does Unfinished Business... Unfinished business also makes some significant changes to the High LVL abilities table, so make sure you're O.K. with that...
There are also the Expanded Thief Stonghold, as well as the Planar Sphere Stronghold... If you play as either, or have Ease of Use's Multi-Stronghold component installed, those would be good choices...
Ascension and Redemption also add some extra encounters, but more to the ToB side, so if you're a bigger fan of SoA (like me) then you might skip those... They very interesting from a role-playing perspective, though.
If you're ambitious, "The Big Picture" adds quite a bit of content, but it has an install checklist that makes Tolstoy look brief, and is non-weidu, so must be with a fresh install, and work with few other mods... I'd hold off on that 'til later.
Item Mods?
The Item Upgrade Mod is a must :The Item Upgrade mod allows Cromwell and Cespenar to upgrade additional items in BGII. One third of them are convenience functions (e.g., they save you ring or boot space), one third of them try to beef up categories of weapons that are "weak by comparison" (e.g., clubs and spears), and one third of them upgrade NPC-specific items.
It is the only thing that makes me actually leave Jaheria's proficiencies alone...
I haven't tried any other Item Mods...
NPC's?
I'd steer clear of most One-Day NPC's... Some are quality, most are buggy with little content...
Kelsey is an excellent, well-balanced, sorcerer, with complete voicing... He'll romance you if you're female...
Chloe is a Kensai... Pretty balanced, but has some powerful swords... Also voiced (mostly). And she will romance female PCs, or Imoen, if you're unavailable... If you like lesbians, go for it...
Solufein is a Drow (you already know him from Uth Natha) fighter/mage. He's pretty powerful, his Moonblade is overpowered (but can be dropped). He's well written, but unvoiced, and will romance men or women... His main drawback is that you can't pick him up 'til chapter 6...
Valen is TREMENDOUSLY OVERPOWERED!!! I sent her in to the Shadow Thieves Guild, and she killed them all be herself... I dropped her because the game got boring... I don't think she can even die, she just turns into a mist and regenerates...
The other NPC's are all pretty standard, pick one if you're in need of a certian class that you can't fin among the Bioware NPC's... Monks, theives, jesters, bards, and more are all out there... You might check out Keto, the bard... She's new...
Those are my 2 cents... Good luck, have fun!!!

Some more questions,
I want chloe inmy group but I'm about a 3rd way through Shadows of Amn.
Is there any way to get her in my group or clue her in or bring her in in throne of Bhaal?
Also what are some some good little mods for quest, bonus exp? Maybe this was answered but more info would be great. ThanksQ!
Also, I have shadows over soubar but waht the hell is it? Does it change the original story a lot or add to it? Never used it?

Mods
I'm not sure about Chloe... Weidu included directions for Clua-ing in Solufein, so I'm sure it's possible, but I wouldn't know Chloe's creature code...
Quest and Unfinished Business gove some extra XP and quests... But I think you need a fresh install to take advantage of them...
Shadows over Soubar is a mod that begins after you finish everything normally in Trademeet... It is not Weidu, so you'd need to begin with a fresh BG2 install... Also, there is not complete compatability with other mods... What I'd suggest, if you're that eager to try it out, is wait 'til you ready to start over, and go for "The Big Picture". The Big Picture is a mod that combines Shadows Over Soubar, The Darkest Day, Tortured Souls, and Ascension... You'll also be able to optionally add Freedom's Reign, Reign of Virtue, Ease of Use, Item Upgrade, Redemption, and Imoen's Romance to it... As I mentioned in the earlier post, the install can be lengthy, but goto: http://iegmc.mirror.intermedia.com.sg/bigpicture/
and click on the PDF manual to find out exactly what to download... all of its components can be found on that site, but be ready for a wait... The assembled collection can reach 1gb...

I may as well reiterate about install order:
SoA
ToB
ToB patch (or if you don't have ToB, the SoA patch)
A non - WeiDU mod (if you really want to use one, but there's none I'd recommend)
WeiDU mods. Should be pretty safe with most install orders, but it's wise to check the ReadMes just in case.
The Quest pack adds some minor extras, as does Unfinished Business... Unfinished business also makes some significant changes to the High LVL abilities table, so make sure you're O.K. with that...
I am pretty sure UB doesn't change high level abilities... What component are you referring to?

These are interesting, yes- but don't take effect until the very end of ToB.

I don't like it because:
1. It is a large download.
2. It reuses a lot of old graphics for the new areas instead of making new ones.
3. It has had a reputation for being very buggy (though I hear some are being taken care of).
4. The writing has lots of spelling and grammatical errors.
5. The plot is not very tight and writing of low quality.
6. The kits, items, spells and so on are very overpowered.
7. The new NPCs have little dialogue.
8. It has an extremely convoluted install and patching procedure.
9. It's non - WeiDU which removes compatability with other non - WeiDU mods and means you have to install it first off.
It should work with WeiDU item mods such as Weimer's Underrepresented Items and Item Upgrade from http://www.WeiDU.org provided Big Picture is installed first.

Beware mods!!!
1- Weidu is the term for a mod compiled by Westley Weimer's freeware... Weidu mods are pretty compatible with each other... I get the impression that before his compiler, you could only have one mod installed at a time... Some of the older members may fill you in on that... It was before my BG2 time...
Westley Weimer was a programmer that actually worked on BG2 for Bioware, so his words are generally considered "gospel" in the modding community...
Compatibility:
I know it's not kosher to post a link on another forum, but here goes:
http://forums.forgottenwars.net/index.p ... opic=10926
Check this out...
Also, just go to pocketplane, they have links for almost all the mods... I saw Expanded Thief Stronghold on their list...
Let us know how you like them... And if you find any conflicts not already listed...

Install order? That'll take a while... Most of those mods should have readme's that will help, I'm terrible at remembering that part...
Saved games? I'm not sure where you're reading, but your old saved games WILL be unusable after installing many mods... I found that out after installing the Item Upgrade... The game played fine for days, I upgraded Daystar, then everything went downhill... I started over, upgraded Daystar, and it works fine, so that was the problem... A word to the wise... Start over...
Check this link out courtesy of Icelus to work around this... Multiple installs allow for multiple mod configs...
