MMO (Yes or no?)

Post by Alien_Newborn »

Am I the only one who thinks that (with a few gameplay alterations e.g. the resting system) Morrowind could be one of the sweetest and most successful MMORPG's ever? I mean, think about it: With a larger map (I was thinking, perhaps, the entire Empire) and some new triggers based around resting (e.g. if you were not logged on [sleeping] and got attacked, your character would become computer controlled, and get up and fight for you) and perhaps the bartering system, Morrowind could have the makings of an excellent MMORPG. With some additions, like the ability to actually WRITE on paper (and by so doing, write your own notes, messages and books) and being able to create new items (like ebony weapons from raw ebony), things would really kick arse.

I don't know how guilds would initially become organized (probably by starting your own and recruiting followers), but otherwise everything would be sweet beyond reproach.

What do you guys think? Is there anything else that I should have considered?

Personally, I don't like the idea, but there's a beta of Morrowind Online available. You can download it here, and read more about it, here. Enjoy!

I'm not really into MMOs personally, but I can certainly see how Morrowind would lend itself to one. ;)

I'm not a huge MMO player myself, but, like everyone else, I definately think Morrowind would TOTALLY be a phenomenal one, if transferred properly.
I sincerely wish we could re-consider this plan from a perspective that involved pants.

Yes, it works. I've seen numerous reports up in the Elder Scrolls forum from people who are using it.

An MMO....no. But a small multiplayer game would be wonderful. Imagine a scene were one group of players would have to attack a castle, defended by another group. Fireballs everywhere, levitating mages that summon golden saints behind the walls, a group of fighters that attack a huge Ogrim, hidden thieves who scale the walls and start shooting arrows at the defenders, ... It would be heavenly.

Guys, if you want to make recommendations for MMORPGs, I can move this thread to the Game Discussion forum. Or keep it here, and focus on Morrowind. Your choice--but let's stick to one.

I suppose this topic has been one of the most debatable for some time amongst Morrowind'ers..I would suggest you take a look at Battlespire, that I think had multiplayer on it and that didn't go down to well. I mean having it might be good, but do people really want to pay for playing it online that may cause lags and well the dreaded n00b talk...i mean how long would the que be to kill Vivec...or that Fyr dude.

it would in effect become everquest...what would be good is something like on NWN where servers could be set up..that could work..but other than that this would be a no no for me.

Since the topic's been settled, as you state, it's not going to change into become something that should be discussed over in the Game Discussion forum. ;)
