Problems in the Temple (after the buggy door)

I am in the area, where you can find 4 jade animals. These were placed on the 4 pillars in the central room - and nothing happened. Could anyone give me a clue on how to proceed? Would be greatly appreciated

Notice the shape of the pedestals. Go back in statue rooms and you will see animal on wall and corrrespond to each pedestal
