how to create multiple characters?
I just bought BG2, and want to create 2 characters and then pick up 4 NPC's. Can anyone please tell me how to play a game whereby I make 2 characters and use them both? Thanks a ton!!

Cloud's pretty much got it figured for you. What don't you get? When you open the game, select multiplayer, then select new game. You can then create up to six characters for a game. Once you've finished creating your two characters, start the game. Immediately save it with an easily recognizable save-game name. Exit and open the multi-player save game folder in windows. You should see the game you just started in the folder. Copy it. Open the normal savegame folder (which might not exist yet if this is your first game--if it is, start and save a useless single-player game just to create the folder...or you could just create it in windows but it might be glitchy if you don't title the folder in the exactly correct way.). After opening the normal save folder, paste the multi-player game into that folder. Now, get back into the game. Select single player, then select load game. You should see the game you just started as a load option. Now, you'll have both those PCs, but BGII will treat it as a single player game.
An important note, especially if you're planning on the stronghold quest or any romancing: BGII will treat the first of the two characters you created as your main PC and essentially ignore the second (for narrative purposes, I mean).

When doing multiplayer, you should also have to select the protocol for your multiplayer games. Did you do that? Also, you should name the session.
Once you've done that, you should get the option to start a new game, and upon selecting that, you should get a screen with six emtpy bars, in which you can place pre-generated characters. In your case, this would be filled by two characters, you leave the other four slots open.

Okay, I just looked it up. You select Multiplayer from the start menu, and then Connect. From the menu that appears you have the option left-above to select the protocal. Once you've done that, click Create Game, and you should get a screen in which you have to name your game, provide an optional game password, and the option to either load a game, or start a new one. Staring a new one brings you to the Character Arbitration screen, and you have six empty slots, where you can create characters for yourself.
I just noticed that with MPLAYER, the option Create Game is greyed out. I recommend you select (and probably first install) another protocol. Haven't you got the TCP/IP protocol? That's what you need for Internet as far as I know...
