first level : mephit portals

I'm arrived in Irenicus' prison (part II). But how do I destroy the mephit portals ? Is there a spell available ? Or can I use one of my NPC's ?

Just kill them like you kill any other monster.

The portals themselves don't have to be destroyed ? It seems like the mephits keep coming as long as their cages aren't destroyed.

You just destroy the portals with melee or spells.. Target them like u target everything else.. =) Ignore the monsters, once u destroy the portal, all baddies that came out of the portal, disappears..

The baddies do not disappear when the portals are destoyed, but they stop coming through. I suggest making characters invisible with potions, spells, hide in shadows, and positioning them by the portals before you start the fight, so you can take them out as quickly as possible. Make sure they can take some punishment, though.

At first I was a little confused here, too. I was told to destroy portals ... but I saw cages with some creature in it, resembling the mephits. So I ignored them, while looking for something that even remotely looked like a portal of sorts, all the while killing all those mephits that seemed to come out of nowhere all the time.

Until someone told me I had to attack the things in the CAGES (the 'creatures' with the circles below them INSIDE the cages). Once you do so, all mephits, that came from a cage you destroyed, will die within one round. This happens whether or not you attack them directly, though.
