Not saving levels (spoiler)

Post by sun_facer »

Hiya fellows! Just completed the game once more...

This game has a bug which causes your party members to lag behind your main character by the number of levels that you save on Taris.

When I played a level4 scout/ lvl16 guardian, i reached the Star Forge with the rest of my party at level 16.

This time, I did not save levels. When I was nearing Deck 2, all of party was at level 20. Although I dun have a statistic to show, I did notice that the DJs' force powers worked considerably less on my party, since all powers take into consideration wisdom/charisma mods and character level.

This made my game easier. And surprisingly, I did not have problems with Malak too. I played a lvl8 soldier/lvl12 guardian (double-wield, speed +power attack) starting at 14/14/14/8/14/14. The ending levels were a breeze, very comfortable pace.

The best thing this time is that I dun have to look out for Jolee. He was at level 20... and many force powers did not work on him.. and thermal detonators did not harm him too much either. In fact, he constantly had enough FP for Master Valor, which made sure those lousy Plague-casting DJ did not get their way... so my lvl3 Implant - Poision Immunity was kinda obsolete.

Anyone else played without saving levels and found the game more fun?
In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

First time I played I didnt save any levels, and found my lvl 8/12 scoundrel/guardian to be pretty weak in force points, although his VP wasnt so bad.
Staying with a scoundrel to level 8 also means that you get uncanny dodge, which is pretty useful when you get jumped.
There are things to be said for and against saving levels, but lets face it you only save levels the 2nd or 3rd time you play.
So you still get the enjoyment factor of getting to L8 as a scout soldier or scoundrel.
So far as the rest of the party lagging behind, I had a game where I was a L4 soldier L16 Guardian and Canderous and Carth both made it to level 20.
Although in my current L2 soldier L17 guardian game (dissapears to load it up and double check, and see the evidence for myself) Canderous has only got to level 15, so you may indeed have a point, I wonder what causes this and if theres any way to stop it happening?
That kid is on the escolator again!

Although maybe it just is the deigners way of showing how uber hard and bad Reven really is, that he has more experience than the others despite spending the same amount of time 'on the road'
