Help:BUG?? Sorc stuck in stone permantly?

OK That guy Jarel is stuck in the stone because his gurlfriend was mad right? So I've checked the threads and all your supposed to do is click on the rock with someone whom has a magic ring. Well I've already cleared out the main halls, and the stone halls, so I've got lots of magic rings. However I cant click on the rock. All I can click on is the dude Jarel himself. I've tried right clicking near the guy and all I get is jarel's info. I've tried left clicking and my party just moves closer. Am I just missing some obvious solution, or is this a bug in my game? I have reservations about patching my game because I've read a lot of places that your saved games might get screwed, and I am NOT starting over. I have a good party of 5 now including Emmeric, and I already have a sorc. So should I just leave Jarel and hope I get no more bugs? ThanX for any help offered.
(I know his names not actually Jarel, but its close)

You know when there's something to pick up or a door to open, your curser changes to the end of a shovel(least that what it looks like to me!) well that's what you need to click on Jarial's rock. If you can't get that to work & you already have a sorc, I would move on...!
