My latest savegame is corrupted. Whenever I click 'load' I get an error message saying quicksave.ess is no valid TES file . This is a huge problem, as my other save is one of 5 hours and numerous quests back. Is there any way to 'clean' this save so that I might use it again?

Not good. Try copying it to a new location, then opening your MW directory original in the Morrowind Advanced Mod Editor. Then save it again. I don't know that this will help, but it just might.
