Sneaking/pickpocketing-need some help!

Anyone have any advice on pickpocketing/sneaking? i have to get a key from this guy but i dont want to kill him. and i'm sick of restarting my game over and over to try(from save i mean) ><

Sugar-lips says it would be easier to get it from the guy in the council club, but so many people in there they are ALWAYS looking ><

Is that the key to Nerano Manor?
I got that key by bribing somebody down in the council club, which worked fine.
