aran linvail secret agent loot

Post by dark__ranger »

Someone try this, its the wierdest thing  ok, when i met aran linvail (or some time after that) i went off and just tried to kill him for fun. As soon as i attacked, some secret agent thief kills my level 15 spell-protected fighter with one hit. i was wondering...(he he) what kind of loot does this fool drop?

I think that if you tries to attack either of Aran or the other shadowthiefleader (the one you meet first) will you get killed whatever how good you are. I tried to kill the other leader in millions of ways and got killed all the time from one of his appearing assasins. So i think you cant beat him unless you sided with Bodi. But thats is a other situation.

But maybe im wrong. It would be kinda cool to be wrong here and get a lot of nice stuff in stead... :)

The man u saw is there so u don't mess up the story.
If u chose the side of the shadowthiefes u can't kill Arain or Rinal.
Because u need them for the story.
there is a way to kill him how ever:
ShapeChange into a Mindflayer and lvl drain him until he's death.
don't know acsectly what his loot is but u should try it some time

From what I remember from a past posting, that guy drops nothing because the designers did not plan to "reward" any one for killing him. You might not even get experience for killing him...but it is good to satisfy your curiosity and find out from experience.

He has an undropable girdle like Imoens that prevents them from going below 1 hp. Hence the mind flayer int drain is the only way to kill him. He doesn't carry a special sword, only some nice magical leather armour. You get no exp, either. He is there so you don't corrupt the story. An elf with a one hit kill appears if Elhan goes hostile.

Would that armor be shadow armor? The same armor that you could purchase from the smithy in Bergost in Baldur's gate 1?

I remember when I first was able to finally afford the shadow armor in Beregost, and I got Imoen all set up with the armor and boots of stealth, and she was up to maybe 5th level...

She could 'hide in shadows' in the sun, right in the middle of a street! I was like "cooooool..." I've always been sorry that she decided to leave her thieving ways behind and concentrate on magic.
May you walk on warrrrm sannd....

Dont know about the armor, but he uses a special longsword that is a total cheese wepon, that confirs 100% magic immunity and does 1000 hp damage perhit.

I f I get too frustrated I'm often tempted to create item (spoiler ahead)

Yes, it will kill melissan and demogorgon in a few whacks, but if my sorc wanted to use a sword it would be a multi fighter mage!
