Stuck in Ust Natha! Help!

I'm in the Drow City and have got both sets of the fake eggs from Solufein and Phaere. I went to replace the real eggs with the fake ones but I was discovered. I defeated all of the guards and golems in the area. Now everyone in the city has turned on me! I tried to leave the city, but the Mother Matron has sealed the city gates. I cannot get out. Pharea turned on me so I killed her too. Any suggestions how to get out? I need to deliver the eggs to the Adalon. Right now I'm trying to defeat the Liche in the Dierlex (sp?) tower.

first of all, you messed up when you went to switch the eggs. when the two guards attack you, you must kill only those two. you also must kill them very fast so the rest dont find out. it is actually easy, just have everyone attack one guard, then everyone on the next. i would strongly suggest going to an earlier save, its the only way. and make sure you only put in the eggs from phaere into the treasury and give solufein fake ones to phaere. although you can only give phaere the fake eggs from solufein once you put in the fake ones from her into the treasury. so, reload to an earlier save.

Not sure if I had your exact same problem. The problem I had in ust natha was that there was a script that wouldn't complete. It is where you meet the beholder on the dock with phaere and soulafein. They keep responding with "X has nothing to say to you". Eventually, I just decided to hack the entire city to pieces. Not very good roleplaying but it turns out this was a legitimate bug in the game and was my only recourse.

My recommendation is to save the game with a new save title so you can go back to where you are and go ballistic on the city. Leave no one standing. Just give Lilarcor what he/she? wants. Kill 'em all. The drow city, in my opinion, was depressingly easy so you have no problems hacking you way through the city.

Well I guess I did mess up. I have a bad habit of saving my games in a few slots. My last save in a different slot is a lot earlier than I'd prefer. I'm not having any problem defeating the Drow in the city. I cannot find Mother Matron though. I have not returned to the tavern though.

There is no other way to get out of the city? I knew I made a mistake saving after I killed the guards.

The mother Drow is suppose to be in the temple. You should probably find her there. She should be at the platform on the left of the main entrence. Have a look there. It is propably too late now but if you had been discovered when switching the eggs why did you not reload the auto-save game? It should have been just before you entered the temple to switch the eggs. The two treasure guards also went hostile when I sent Imoen alone to retrive the eggs. In my previous game she just quickly went inside, closed the door, and stole the eggs. Drank a invisibility potion so that the Golems left her alone after they went hostile. Came out. The guards couldn't see her so rejoined my party and the quest was done.

In my second game she went to the treasure but was forced to cast knock. The guards went hostile. She ignoured them and went in. Close the door so the guards couldn't follow. Stole the eggs. Golems went hostile. Instead of fighting them she came out and closed the door so that Golems couldn't follow and ran to my party. The guards followed. I came outside the temple, just the two guards followed. Went to the arena when I fought the beholder earier and the worshipers of the god other than Lolth. The guards followed and I hacked them to pieces there. The city did not turn hostile and I was able to finish the city without turning BGII into Diablo. I mean seriously just heck and slash is so primitive.

Talk about the long way around things...

Load to your previous game and put up with doing it again, then, when you get to the two guards outside the door, kill them before going in, makes it a lot easier. And just use some sort of invisibility so the golemns don't atack you. Or kick there arse for a little bit of experience.

Oh yeah, I remember this dilemna. As L said, you must kill the 2 egg guards before they cry out. Just attack them when they are blue as quickly as possible. I once had to start over from Spellhold becuase I bungled this egg incident and I only saved in 3 slots.

On my first time through, I had similar problems. What I did was this: first, I killed the matron mother (which I believe opened up the city gates) and her minions (one heck of a battle that), then healed everyone, cast haste on the group and RAN LIKE HELL to Avalon.

Since my last save was farther back than I would have like to reload, I continued to kill everybody in the Drow city. I killed the Lich in the tower and everyone in the Joilet(sp?) home and even in the tavern. I went back to the temple and there was Mother Matron herself. I killed her pretty easily. Once I did this, all of her magic dispelled and I was allowed to leave the city.

Didn't know if anyone else has done this, but I was glad to know that I could still leave. So those of you who have made this same mistake as I have. JUST KILL EVERYONE IN THE CITY. ESPECIALLY THE MOTHER MATRON. It was fun!

I have already progressed out of the underdark and I'm in search of the latern the elves need.
