Game Performance is NO!

Post by falconis_99 »

i seriously cant stand the performance anymore. these are my system specs:

Pentium 4 2.02 GHz
512 of DDR Ram
80 Gigs of Hard Drive Space
128 Nvidea GeForce FX 5200 Graphics Card

The Game still runs like crap, is there anything i can do to increase the performance. i have all of the graphics at a minimum, shadows off. and yah i can still play but it freezes for like 8 seconds in some spots.

I would suggest more RAM and another videocard... But this is not the case... I've a GeForce 5700 Ultra and the performance is still very disappointing. By comprison, with Half Life 2 (same engine, even better graphics) I never get below 25-30 fps at 1024x768 with AA2x enabled. With Vampire my framerate is always between 10 (yes, sadly) and 20 fps! Something is broken in the game...

Two questions: 1. What's your page file size (min and max), and 2. What version of NVidea Forceware are you running?

How do I view FPS?

I have an AMD64 3200+ (2,00 ghz), 1024 mb DDR PCI3200, and a GeForce 6800 GT 256 DDR.

I can run the game very smoothly in the highest resolution.

Page file is plenty. You may want to try the Source optimized NVidea drivers that Tech Connect have on their website. (TC NVidea Optimized Drivers version 04)

If you're able to upgrade your RAM, this will make a huge difference. With almost the same setup as you, I put in another stick of 512 and the improvement was immediate. Load times were dramatically reduced, and choppiness was eliminated.
