Actually, no, Minsc gets a bit confused. :D
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Good point. The Minsc-Edwin fight only triggers if Edwin is male.

Is there a way to keep him from ever regaining his true form?

Well, Edwin can only turn back to male in Chapters 2 and 6 so if you are past chapter 2 and Edwin is female, then you are going to have him (or her) that way until you get to chapter 6. :)

Btw, I find Yakman funny as hell as well.

Minsc has TONS of hilarious comments and dialogues and I can't travel without him.

His "Boo must have his exercise, lest he bite us all in hard to reach places!" comment enough is worth having him in my party. :)

I would be inclined to doubt it. The "what happens to them after the ending" remarks of BG2 would only make sense ironic sense if Edwin was still male at the game's conclusion.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
