Hi,
i cannot solve some quests-
1.when my characters go to the black jay's meddow at night, they find corl but they can only say "what are you doing here" and then "go home" and so i cannot solve the quest.
2.In the inn - only the two characters with which i began the game can speak to tuperello (drinking contest), and they are the weakest. how can i force Elmo to speak to him, so that he accepts the quest?
3.Cupid's Arrow- I cannot tell filliken that I've spoken to jaroo about his mourning. He says something like "How could say this about my beloved Melene, she reminds me so much of her mother. and you remind me of my horses' ass". I didn't say something like this. How do I finish the quest??
Thanks!
some problems
First of all you need to use a Pc speaker with a high CHA score and Int above 10, best if 14+ for CHA, and the Pc must have invested some skill-points in skills like Diplomacy, Bluff, Intimidate, Gather Information & Sense Motive. The higher the score the better.
OR, if your skills are low or your PC low on CHA & INT : Pick up a sample of the plants on the ground in Black Jay's garden. It's a strange plant you haven't seen before. Then take it to Jaroo (the village Druid) and ask him about it. He'll tell you it's poisonous. You now have the evidence you need, return to Corl and confront him again. Voila !!
Start the talk with your PC w/ the most Hit-Points. Do you have a Cleric or Druid for healing ? Good if you do. If your 'drinking' PC is too weak and drops down, heal him back to full health with spells or potions then talk to Tuporello again. You won't win untill ALL contestants are down, so if Tuporello drops you might have to heal him too, just a bit to continue the contest.
You can also wait a few levels before completing this quest, it will be a lot easier at lvls 3-5 (or higher ) but you'll receive less XP then.
To get THIS ANSWER : "How could say this about my beloved Melene, she reminds me so much of her mother. and you remind me of my horses' ass" you have said something bad about Meleny. Are you Evil ? This can sometimes happen if the two marriage quests are tempted at the same time, or you're 'speaker' is Low-INT-Low-CHA-Low-SKILL. You probably said (in Marrying Meleny) "Come on, she's ripe for the picking" This will make Filligan mad at you. To try to set things straight you should consentrate on one quest, re-try all dialouge options with a high CHARISMA, self-made PC. A high Bluff & Diplomacy skill let you through this dialouge a lot easier.
If you haven't yet started to court Meleny, do so. You need a Male Pc with Cha over 13 (+2 or better) and/or high Diplomacy and some Gather Information skill. She will NOT be courted by an Evil Pc though unless the CHA & skills are VERY high.
Lastly, save your game often and run through all possible dialoge options. Try to come back at higher levels and make sure your party have 1 'Speaker' for all the talking quests. And have Fun
There are two ways to solve this quest: Talk to everybody again and use the skillls Intimidate & Sense Motive on Corl, you will then get the proper dialouge options,1.when my characters go to the black jay's meddow at night, they find corl but they can only say "what are you doing here" and then "go home" and so i cannot solve the quest.

Only the Pc's you have made YOURSELF can initinte dialouge with Npc's. This goes for the entire game, so Elmo (and all the other hirelings) can never start talking. He might say something in special places, like when he meets his brother Otis in Nulb. So this quest must be solved with one of your two Pc's.2.In the inn - only the two characters with which i began the game can speak to tuperello (drinking contest), and they are the weakest. how can i force Elmo to speak to him, so that he accepts the quest?

Here you have made some kind of blunder i think.3.Cupid's Arrow- I cannot tell filliken that I've spoken to jaroo about his mourning. Oh, When all else fail, put the Dwarf up front!
1.I noticed that I can solve this quest only with certain characters- not with a bard or a sorcerer. Is it so the whole game or it depends on the level?
3.Well, i didn't say anything bad about meleny, i just talked to jaroo if a year mopurning is enough, and when I return to Filliken, he tells me that and I can't tell him anything else. Is it a bug?
4.I've got another problem- when I return from the old fortress, after I killed everything, I get attacked by everyone in hommlet. Why?
5. How do I solve the quest with Laszio- the kid doesn't like any of my charcters. What do I have to do?
6. How do I loot bodies- I click and click and click but it won't work
thanks in advance

I answer:
1. Recall seeing any little symbols like smiles or flexing biceps by any of the dialog options? These indicate that that dialog option reflects the use of a dialog skill, like bluff or intimidate. Picking them does not represent trying the skill, rather, if you can pick them, they will definitely work. They only appear if your skill check succeeds. The way to make them succeed is to give your character (you should have one "spokesman" character get all these skills) ranks in the dialog skills. The best choice is a rogue or bard, because they can easily get a lot of ranks in these skills. Higher level does nothing but give you more points to put into the skills. Make a good mouthpiece, and you'll have no problems with any of the quests.
3. I really think you must have accidentally picked something about Meleny when talking to Filliken that ticked him off. It's possible there's a bug, but I don't think others have experienced this one.
4. This is a common experience. I'm not sure if it's a bug or not. If it is, I think if you apply the second official patch, it should be fixed. Otherwise, you must have done something to tick people in Hommlett off. I had a game once where I got people mad and they wouldn't treat me well. It showed up in the "reputations" section of my logbook. Check to see if you have a bad rep for some reason. If so, you must have done something wrong (or maybe it still is a bug). Tip: don't impoverish people. If a quest suggests paying 2 gold or 5 platinum to somebody for something, do it. Tiny money, and you'll have an untarnished rep.
5. The quest must be performed by a female character, and the one who started it with Lazlo (I think). It won't work right away. Come back periodically (may be level dependent) and see if the kid accepts you. He will in time.
6. You're experiencing the looting bug. You must have Service pack 2 with directx 9.0c. There is an easy fix for this. Check out some of my recent postings regarding looting and the looting bug. If you can't find them, let me know and I'll give you the link. It's not hard to fix this. Also, in the meantime, you can loot by pressing "c" and going into combat mode. Annoying and you can't open all bodies this way, but it helps. Just fix the problem, though. It's simple.

It sounds like you're not too far into the game. I'd make a good spokesman and start over. You'll be glad you did. And be careful to make nice with the Hommlettites.

No idea on the language thing. You might want to try asking on the board at http://www.co8.org. Someone there should be able to help you.
As for a good spokesman, you want high Charisma and dialog skills. Those are: intimidate, diplomacy, sense motive, bluff, and gather information. Bards and rogues get lots of skill points to put into these (also a high intelligence scores gives you even more), and all/most of these are class skills for them, so one skill point gives you one rank, and you can go up to higher ranks. Half-elves make good spokesmen, because they get a racial bonus to some of these skills as well, but if you have enough ranks you won't need to bonus. The best spokesman at level one would be a half-elven bard or rogue with all these conversation skills maxed out and an 18 charisma.
What makes a good spokesman?
How do I change the language- uninstall and re-install doesn't help. I cannot install the two patches unless it's in english
A good spokesman is a character with either good Charisma and/or good Intelligence and Skill boost.
Example : The Paladin : Has Good CHA and Diplomacy as one of his Main Skills. A Pal With Cha 13+ and ( if human, extra skill points ) some skills (all !!) invested in dialouge skills will do for most quests. As you level up, invest some skills in cross-class skills, like Intmidate and Bluff, and you will be OK..
Example: The Sorcereror : Usually has VERY good CHARISMA and Bluff as class skill. An Intelligent, Charismatic Sorceror with skills invested in cross-class skills is fine for all quests. Same goes for Bard, with INT 12+ and good CHA you are set for all quests.
The Rouge : Lots of skill points : A rouge with CHA 10+ and good INT will do fine in all quests, some may become level dependent if CHA is low, but will eventually solve.
Humans : Any Intelligent Human Class will do, but it takes more time with a Fighter than f.x A Druid due to class or cross-class skills.
Hope this helps: You will need a Charismatic PC in the early game, but dont despair : you will reach max XP even if you dont !!

I like to use a rogue, give him 3 levels, then make him a fighter from then on. This way he gets all the dialog skills he needs, so I can do all the quests, plus he gets the disable traps and open locks skills, which are nice. With level 3, he gets +2d6 from sneak attack too, which is nice, because after he gets some fighter in him you can use him as a pure fighter and flank a lot. A nice multi-class character that can easily take care of all conversations you'll need in the game. But give him some Cha.
