Magical weapon in use ???

Post by Apeiron »

Hi,
I just finished SoA, and imported my solo ranger/cleric to ToB, but I can't use the right hand slots!!!
When I try to change the weapon, it wont came out, and I can't even change between the two of them!!!
It keeps warning 'Magical weapon in use'.
Any hints?

There must be an "affect" or a state flag in use that makes the game think that your character is using Energy Blades or something. Check the saved game from which you are trying to export/import your character, or use Shadowkeeper to eliminate the problem if you can. I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Good luck!

Thanks, but I checked all my saved games and it's the same in all of them. I tried to import the character with no arm on the right hand, and I can't even put one weapon, repeating the message described above. I tried to strip him from all the artifacts and armors, but still I get the same message. Don't know what to do... :(

You say you're importing from SoA to ToB, but have you tried just playing straight through? If you finish SoA and wait a while, ToB will start up with your party, and maybe that way will avoid creating the problem you're having.

What amulet and bag of holding are you referring to? I wasn't aware that there was any content available to an imported character that isn't available to someone who plays straight through.

When I use the option 'New Game' in ToB, I get an amulet and a bag of holding. That didn't happened when the game continued from SoA.

Well, if you -did- go through the game with SoA, then you likely got those items when you were supposed to, such as in Spellhold. I don't think there's going to be any way that you're going to get -two- bags of holding/amulets. That bag and amulet are, I believe, supposed to be "starting equipment" for when you're importing, to put you a little more on par with people who went through SoA. If you went through SoA, you should have gotten those items already and you shouldn't need the boost. In other words, it sounds "as intended".

Hi Qwinn,
Maybe you are right when you say it is intended, but when you import a character, it comes with all its previous items, plus the bag and the amulet. However, if you import a character you cannot bring any kind of bags or cases, and that's why they give you the bag. But now I'm wondering: If you you go through to ToB from SoA, don't you loose the bags and cases?

I don't -think- you lose your cases if you just play straight through... that would've been pretty traumatic for me, and I don't remember going through that....

Hy Qwinn,
You are right: if we go through we don't loose the bags :)
