first couple weeks i ran the game with no problems. Now it crashes every 20 minutes. To add to that, my last quicksave won't load nor my last auto-save, instead when i try to load them, the game crashes to my desktop.
I'm pretty suspicious these problems are because of some software I installed a few days ago. I installed steinburg's cubasis VST. During installation it told me that 'DMA mode was not activated', and it recommended that I activate it. It also suggested that I let it change my cache size settings or something.
I let the software modify those settings....
ever since then my pc crashes like mad, including one fatal error the other day.
Could be coincidence, but i think it is related to that software i installed.
If someone can offer some suggestions, please do. I have no idea how to revert the settings of my PC back to what they were before the software i installed either....
I can't find anything on my pc configuration that talks about cache size or DMA mode.
I have a athalon 800, 128 ram, 45 gig 100 ATA HD. On windows 98.
Help game keeps crashing can't load saves either

To access those options:
DMA
Right-click My Computer, select properties, device manager, disk drives +, right-click your HDD and then settings. DMA should be listed there. Although with your HDD DMA should not cause any problems.
Virtual Memory/Cache
Right-click My Computer, select properties, then performance, then Virtual Memory. With 128 MB RAM you should set the min to 128MB and the max to whatever you want. With that much space you could select 10GB without a prob (Tad bit of overkill though). But unless this setting is under 128MB that also should not be a prob.
Also try clearing your BG2 cache/temp folders, this has been know to help a few people. Just go to you BG2 install folder (C:\Program Files\Black Isle\BG2-SoA\ by default) and delete all files in the cache and temp folders.
Hope this helps
