Better random loot at Difficult level?

Well, reading some of the posts at other sites, I get the impression the random loot and dropped items are better when you choose Difficult Gameplay. This really reminds me of the Icewind Dale games LOL. Well, considering Obsidian is mostly ex-Black Isle, I guess it makes sense.

Oops, I forgot to alter the difficulty my second and third time through. I dunno if that is true at all, but you get better loot at higher levels.
