neutral character?

Post by trippin_kali »

I've gone through the game twice now, once as a sith assassin and once as a jedi weapon master. I'm looking to play something different on the third go, I've been thinking a neutral consular. Has anyone played a neutral character yet? Any advantages or disadvantages? the only drawback I see is that I wouldn't be able to prestige (unless I went one way, then back to middle after I gained new class)

what do you all think?

It might be kind of difficult to maintain the mostly neutral status, and they won't really have much of anything that's exclusive to it, as you already know. But, it'd be interesting and probably worth a shot. The only plus side would really be having less of a penalty using universal powers.

You get your prestige class the first time you talk to Kria after advancing to level 15. It doesn't matter where you are on your meter. I'm curious thought what options you would have. I'm on my second game and as you know she only offers you three choices when your to the light or dark. Do you think you could choose from all six?

Would you be capable of getting that far without getting LS or DS points? That'd be a challenge with lots of saving and loading...hmm.

I don't think you'd be able to go throughout the game without gaining dark or light points. But, for every light action you can balance it with a dark and vice versa. I figure with a high CHA, I can reduce the cost of light and dark powers....coupled with a high WIS for maximum force points, I oughta be able to crush just about any opponent easily. there are a number of items and implants in the game to increase my physical stats to make me a decent fighter.

as for the prestige class, I guess I'll just have to figure out that when I get to it. that's one factor that I didn't like about this title, kind of like the american gov., it's only a two party system. If you go for the middle ground, then you're just up the creek without a paddle. ;)

heheh, on an unrelated note i agree with your two party comment.

as to balancing out light side points with dark side points, i don't think they are really "balanced out." ever had a conversation where you got both dark side and light side points but it says "dark side net shift"?

you did a light side deed and a dark side deed..but the dark deed was more points than the light side, so you get a net shift to dark...

if your meter is not 75% light or dark, reach level 15 and don't have (deleted) in your party, you will NOT get a prestige class at all... :(

(according to some posts in obsidian forums)
They call me Darth...

i know, i was just saying that you aren't going to remain 100% neutral without shifting at all, regardless of trying to balance it out with 1 dark side deed for every light side deed.

Neutrality wouldn't be that you get out of each singular situation without "aligment shift/LS-DS points", but balance it out over a periode of time/multiple situations.
So gaining LS points in some situations and DS points in other situations would still make you "neutral".
