way to downtown (spoiler)

I'm starting with one of the side quests of s. monica. But where is the way to Downtown? Via the sewers - no way, via a cab: where and when. Can anybody help me. Thanks!

SPOILERS: highlight to read:

You get access to a cab that appears close to the Asylum after you blow up the Warehouse. Until then, you'e stuck in Santa Monica. The game usually works like that, revealing new areas after plot missions.

Unless you are playing Nosferatu, then you need to go trough the sewers.
