Dxun quest (spoilers)

I fought the Zaikkeg, but that n00b Darvel or whoever it was that I convined t bring along died. The journal entry for it just says "Dxun:" and I can't talk to the guard captain about it. Am I basically screwed out of the XP with this bug or what?

it doesn't matter just go into the next room and it goes on from there, the guy who dies isn't the leader, he was just one of the captains or something.

I know, but I wanted the extra XP from that individual "proving yourself" quest.

Talk to the Gate Captain Guard or whatever his name is and you can complete the quest.

I have no option to tell him that I killed it. And, since the journal entry just says "Dxun:", I imagine this is another glitch.
