Conjuration...
Do you think Conjuration is a well worth skill?
I think so, I love summoning creatures but since it takes a little while, and since animals attack me randomly and I have to act quickly, I usually refrain from it as a skill, so I rather enchant it onto something so it doesn't take so much Magicka and I can retaliate quickly, even thought I usually play a pure mage.
What do you think?

It is very handy in the beginning of the game.. Yesterday my level 2 mage managed to defeat 2 scamps (an absolute horror for a 30hp character) by summoning a fire atronach. I think it becomes pretty useless to summon creatures when you advance in level, but bound armor stays one of the best spells in the game.

Conjuration is pretty useful, although i would not say it is the best school of magic - alteration gets that. Conjuration is still pretty useful for bound armour. The best use is probably in conjunction with mysticism and enchant - soulgems with golden saint/ascended sleepers are pretty good. Cheesy, but useful.

I personally enjoy conjuration quite a bit: the ability to have minions to do one's dirty work is quite satisfying, not to mention the control spells
What I think they should have done, though, is take a page from MTG's book and have a spell so that when you kill a creature, you can cast the spell on it and from that point on, you will be able to summon that creature, but it will be all
zombified/horribly disfigured/rotting/ a little from all three columns
That would have been a great spell for necromancers

I find it most useful in combat when I have someplace convenient to hide on while my pets slug it out with the enemy.
However, the best use I've found for it is for summoning Golden Saints.

I think conjuration is a great skill to have, but and this is a big but only if it's a high level because in my personal experiance unless its past level70 at least it misses quite alot when trying to summon up stronger beasts (suck as winged twilights and golden saints) and in a tight situation like a battle you don't have time to keep summoning somthing over and over again. sorry to be a downer but conjuration is more trouble then it's worth, i would just stick to scrolls when it comes to summoning because they never fail (so far lol).

Rock on, Rock hard & don't look back!!!
I only bother using it when I play a pure mage, and then I mark it down in my major skill slot. Early level mages are pretty rotty, so it's nice to have a biiiig, strooooong daedra to come to your rescue when you're in a fix. I remember the first time I played, I actually tried to kill... ummm... that high elf in Balmora (think thieve's guild quest - but I forgot his name) and he must have cast a scroll of Lord Mhas's Vengeance. I just know I was amazed that he all of a sudden had kick-butt armor, and I thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. It almost makes you think about foregoing buying armor altogether and just getting some great conjuration spells... but, nahhh. (oh, I MUST figure out how to permanently keep that lovely armor, I know it can be done, and I know others less dense than me have done it...)(help?)
you know what they say about all work and no play...

@Beornica :
What you can do is to enchant some exquisite piece of clothing (pants, shirts, whatever) with a constant effect Bound Armor. I did this for my mage character, helped him survive long enough to summon pets. However, the efficiency of the bound armor is still dependent on your armor skill, so don´t expect to turn an untrained mage char into the Great Meatshield of Destruction by simply giving him some bound armor.
Conjuration is nice, you have to be very careful though which critter you summon. I died several times because a Frost/Fire Atronach I had summoned decided it was a good idea to use spells in close quarters. The splash damage killed me as well. So, when I conjure critters, I prefer non-Spellcasters like Daedra or Saints.
BTW : does anybody know if it is possible to soultrap summoned critters? Some people advise it, but it doesn´t seem to work for me. Has this been removed in a patch ?

At your "BTW" - sounds as if it was removed in a mod, since soul trapping a summoned creature is easy as pie. It's my favorite way to recharge my things in a hurry... or instantly have that golden saint soul gem I need without trekking around for an hour real time. (why would a mod do that, though? Now THAT'S hard core...)
