That's sort of odd. when I got the sword, I had all my stuff at full and it worked. Maybe it has somethin' to do with your character's actual build (you know: slim, average, fat, etc.) because I was wacked out of my skull on booze when I pulled out the sword (and as we all know, beer makes you fat if you drink enough)
Get up, stand up. Come on, throw your hands up.
If you've got the feeling, Jump across the ceiling.

You must eat something fattening like meat and when you do it will show you at the left side how much you have put on, you must gain a lot of physique and toughness to actually pull it from its stone but as long as you are in area of easy high exprience orbs then you ok

Your first try pull out the sword it won't work because the game records your stats down so no bullsh*t spreading about this please(Please don't comment on whether I'm lying because I know the Fable coding.). Then you must have +5 on physique, +4 on health and +3 on toughness to pull it out, or have all three level7 which is maximum.
EDIT: Sorry bout that, I've been crackin down on BSers at the Lionhead forums, people spreading rumors about the Singing Sword and Sandgoose. Oh yeh offcourse if you already maxed out your attributes you can pull it out on first go, but if you didn't then you need the +5, +4 and +3 or max them out.

what tha heck is your problem lil freak!! if anyone decides to contradict your saying then let em.. you are in fact right but a forum is created to hear everyone's opinion... besides.. it is much easier to just master all the strength points and then there's no chance of missing.. simple as that
Haz el bien sin mirar a quien!
i couldnt believe i had wasted my time trying to get it
Do not pass by my epitaph, traveler.
But having stopped, listen and learn, then go your way.
There is no boat in Hades, no ferryman Charon,
No caretaker Aiakos, no dog Cerberus.
All we who are dead below
Have become bones and ashes, but nothing else.

i think it's a brilliant weapon.
obviously not 'the best' weapon in the game but if your hero is to be that of a warrior, wielding an Assassin's Katana would be a tad... inappropriate?
same with dressing him up in a bright dress only to give him the sword of Aeons instead of the legendary lost treasure of albion.
