I'm just posting this topic to see if anyone else has had this strange little problem, and knows how to fix it.
When I'm walking down the street in Downtown or Chinatown, or whatnot, whenever someone is moving at a distance, their movement... stutters. Its not that the fps drops, I'm hovering at ~40 throughout. Instead of moving fluidly, they kinda jump from having left foot out to having right foot out, etc. Completely un-natural looking, of course. But when I come up to them... vamoose! They move fluidly again. Its as though the game is compressing their movements at a distance.
But I don't want any of this compression, dangnabit! I bought my computer so I can play these games perfectly, and this is annoying. So has anyone found any console commands/ tips to get this "compression" out of the way?
Oh, and on a similar note, I've noticed that in town levels some items (boxes, trucks, etc.) only appear once you get close. Any way to get those to appear consistently as well? Thanks again!
Stuttery Animations at a Distance
Yeah, i had a problem like that but instead of what you say, i could see where a character was going to walk before they actually did.
For example, whenever i left the Jewellry store in Hollywood down the alley, i would see the red haired girl wearing jeans shoot past the end (from right to left) as if she was flying on an invisible board at 90mph, then when i reached the end of the alley and was about to walk onto the road she would be walking across my path (from right to left).
I've since installed the patch and it has stopped doing it as frequently but it still happens once in a blue moon. Nothing major i guess.
