buy traps?
I've done all but the high tower and haven't found anyone and am overflowing with traps at the moment.
If there is no one in the tower who'll buy them, guess it is time to dump and stopr recovering them
thanks

Depending on where you got your traps, most merchants won't buy them, anyway. Usually, when I pick up a trap from a corpse or find a trap ( my char's a wizard and I have little use for them ), in a chest for example, and I try to sell it to a merchant or a priest at the Temple of Tyr, my game will point out "this merchant does not buy stolen goods". I'm not sure if it's a class thing, though.

There's a "shady character" north of the sewer entrance in the north part of the town. I haven't checked it, but I'd guess he buys traps.
That's odd, because I can sell traps at the Temple of Tyr.
Is your game patched?
After 1.62 or 1.64 (can't remember) traps are marked as "stolen" items (for some reason ) and can't be sold to common merchants but only "shady characters".
I never bother - there are plenty of money in this game so I just drop the traps.

I guess that's what happened to me. I updated the game through the interface after I'd played for a bit and I never tried selling traps before that point. I think everything you 'loot' will count as 'stolen', no matter where it came from. It just doesn't make any real sense because I loot every goddamn chest I can find and I can sell everything but the traps. *shrugs*

There are only a few items which count as "looted" - traps being the main ones. Mostly traps which you disarm and collect, or find on bodies of creatures you have slain. There are other items (rarely) which are also marked as "stolen" which fit into this category. Yes, this is dependant on the patch you have (1.62 and up).
Stolen goods can only be sold to the various Shady Characters. There is one in every town. The Luskan guy is on the eastern side of the map (near the entrance to the Host Tower), near one of the sewer entrances, up a set of stairs. Behind him is a chest.
The higher "ranked" traps are certainly worth keeping and selling (Deadly or the like) as they can be worth several hundred gps (depending on your CHA and Appraise skills, of course).
Cheers,
TGHO
